For one thing, a couple strips of acid or some presses don't even come close to the value of a half ounce of dank weed, a nice glass bowl, and $50 so you can just throw that justification out the window.

Two, like has been said, there is a major difference between finding a baggy with a few items in it on the ground and just taking someone's backpack. If you can't recognize that then maybe you should find some doses and develop yourself a real conscience and set of morals.

You don't think it was all the person had? Even if it wasn't did you think he left it there so you could take it?

Where did you find said backpack? Laying in the middle of a field with no one around it?

Technically, a groundscore is something you find that obviously doesn't have an owner anymore.. like hey look a bag of pot someone dropped probably hours ago. 
People don't tend to just drop backpacks with weed and money and glass in them.. unless we are talking like a day after the fest had ended..
Chances are, some dude just set his backpack down for a minute, went somewhere then you just came by and snatched it.
That's not a groundscore..

Its not stealing if the item was definately lost and there is no name or address inside so its impossible to know who the owner is.  It would be nice if you had waited around to see if the owner turned up though.

The only alternatives are
1) Let someone else find it and keep his weed / money
2) Hand it in (lol, that is the most naive thing I've ever heard though)

I mean really, handing in a rucksack of weed and money :rotfl: Theres no way that shits going to get back to its owner.  Your just giving it away for the sake of feeling like your a saint.
