The NFL Trend of Hiring Young Coaches
    #10089709 -

It's always said the NFL is a copy-cat league.

You have to wonder if teams aren't rethinking their strategies of hiring up-and-coming young coaches that nobody has ever heard of.  Mike Singletary, the new 49ers coach is obviously fucking insane, dropping his pants in a meeting last season and just yesterday saying he would never draft Matthew Stafford because Stafford refused to talk about his parents divorce during a pre-draft interview.  The Buccaneers are likely feeling a bit shell-shocked after Rahim Morris fumbled and fidgeted his way through is first press conference.  But that's nothing compared to the idiocy of new Denver coach McDaniels, who single-handedly alienated his pro-bowl QB for absolutely no reason at all w/in a few weeks of his hiring.

Seriously, I know the vitriole is high among Broncos fans towards Cutler.  But to even think about trading him was fucking retarded, especially for Matt Cassel.  Cutler threw for what, 4,500 yards last year?  And 45 touchdowns?

So McDaniels is saying he thought Cassel would throw for 5K and 50 touchdowns!?  Based on WHAT?

Terribly dumb move.

I bet you see a move back towards established, veteran coaches in the near future.  There are just too many ways to fuck up a team.

1. McDaniels was dumb, he didn't want to fit into Shanahan's "old glove".  He made a move and paid dearly for it.

2. Tomlin Rules

3. The Niners will continue to blow, despite having the best linebacker in the league.

You're right, I didn't think of Tomlin.

He is indeed, it seems, a very good young coach.

I used to be skeptic about Tomlin, just based on his wreckless style and the way he drafted the first two years.

For the past two seasons he's drafted in a manner never really seen before, be devoting a cluster of early picks towards one weakness.

But the way guys like Lamaar Woodley, Lawrence Timmons are shaping out, it was clearly for the better.

If his next two project pan out to be just as usefull, the team has a bright future for a long time to come.  Lamar WOodley, Timmons are just starting to come into their prime.  Rashard Mendenhall and Limas Sweed didn't even play a role in the team's super bowl run.

Dude, I have been in Denver saying that Cutler was not going to be a winner for a while now. The fans have wanted to string me up, but it's true. The fans LOVED him two months ago. LOVED. Calling Bowlen a liar over and over is crazy. His reputation in all arenas is sterling. Cutler is lying and trying to hang Bowlen out to dry.

McDaniels wants a QB who doesn't want to be "the" star of the show, and JC is that kind of guy. Cutler wants to drive the bus, and McDanels isn't going to have that. Good for him. Bill Parcells and Chuck Knoll and Vince Lombardi and George Halas and Bill Walsh were THE undisputed kings of their teams, and I like that philosophy.

Culter throws a goofy ball, and has been helped by some really good receivers and a good O-Line. He throws picks at HORRIBLE times and is prone to fumbling.

He's going to go to Chicago and throw to who? And what about the weather? More sunny days in Denver than any other major US city, no more Oakland and San Diego. Hello Green Bay and Lake Michigan.

The Broncos got a HAUL for Cutler.

I said it a LONG time ago, and I'll say it again, dude is Jeff George. If that.

PS He threw 25 TD's and 18 INT's last year, about the same ratio as Orton. His rating was about 7 points higher, and he lead the team to the worst collapse in NFL history.

Bye Jay, you won't be missed :bye:

I will respectfully offer you some counterpoints, but as a broncos fan, it's obvious u have alot of basis behind your formulated opinion.

Firstly, you have to realize that being a broncos fan means you were spoiled at the QB position for a very long time.  If you really look around the league and see how many teams are struggling, you have to realize just how hard it is to find a stable franchise QB in this league, something Cutler IS.

I never understood why after THIS season even, there is so much blame on Cutler, when people seem to forget that the Broncos have had one of the shittiest defenses in the past decade.

And what significant ground support has Cutler had this past year?  The running game was a damn merrygoround of potheads.

Cutler is a damn good QB, one of the top 10 most productive in the league.

McDaniels tried something crazy, like all new young coaches try to do, and he fucked up.

Now the Broncos won't have a franchise QB next season.  Let's see how that all works out.

But on the bright side, there is Eddie Royale.

I am still a Bears fan first, HATED the Broncos until these past two years, and have grown to like them as A. I live here now B. Shanahan is gone & C. Cutler is gone. Im not blinded by crap. Jay Cutler is not the man you want running your team, EPECIALLY if you are a sytem guy like McDaniels.

Yes, the running game sucked, but the O-Line and Receivers were awesome. But Jay in the red zone? 2008 Broncos were the first team to be in the top 5 of total O and NOT in the top 15 in scoring. And that is WITH great wideouts. Who's he going to be throwing to in Chicago. Madtown might be out there next year catching poorly thrown bullets.

I watched almost every play of his these past two years, and Jay has little touch, and he almost ALWAYS puts the ball in a difficult spot. Most people don't see this, but if you watch the top guys and then watch JC, you'll see a very noticeable difference. he won't have great hands in Chicago, and it will show. And where are the Bears going to get receivers at?

Again, I would have drafted him before Young and Leinhart EASILY, and that made me crazy. Then I said he was a pouting, bad ball throwing punk, that made me crazy, and now I'm saying the Broncos got a GREAT DEAL for him and that is making me crazy now.

Time will tell.
