In response to padildo's comment above... You should realize that Cramer received just as much negative reaction when he went on the Today show on October 6th 2008, well before the market realized the vast majority of its substantial losses, and advised people that if they are going to need their money in the next five years, they had better pull it out of the stock market right away. He went on to advise on his own show, even for those who don't need their money, that they should sell at least 20% off their holdings in the face of the upcoming downturn. If you were listening to this advice, you could have sidestepped a nearly 40% slide in the S&P 500.

I'm not going to say that Cramer doesn't make mistakes, but who doesn't? At least he owns up to the mistakes he does make, which speaks volumes for his integrity. But if you don't follow his work and only listen to some clips that were sliced and diced on a 30 minute comedy show, of course you aren't going to see that Cramer really does do good work for the [small but dedicated] investor out there who doesn't work on Wall Street. The clips Stewart chose to show when attacking Jim, were from a segment entitled "Wall Street Confidential" on TheStreet.com's website. It is a segment designed to inform the average investor precisely OF all the tricks and shady dealings that are transpiring behind closed doors. He wants people to understand these traps, so that they won't walk into them themselves! Otherwise, why would he even be talking about it?

Unfortunately he doesn't have the same ability to speak so openly on the CNBC network that he does on his own website; but at least he is spending his time trying to enlighten people like me, who have invested money hard-earned from our own businesses, about the intricate, dark and often confusing ways in which the capital markets function. Many of the things I have learned from Jim have resulted in my calling and writing to my own representatives and federal officials in efforts to make the system more transparent and fair for the average investor. If it weren't for Jim, I probably wouldn't be nearly as aware of the faults in our system as I am now.

So thank you Jim! You are doing great work for people who take the time to educate themselves from a myriad of sources, and supplement that education with your own teachings. For the rest of the people who don't take the time to really listen to what you are saying and instead jump on a bandwagon of misplaced negativity, don't let it phase you. Your conscience is clear.
