i want a pet fish

i never had a pet, and i dont have the money for a fancy aquarium. i was wanting like a fish bowl fish, no crazy chemicals to add or filters to change, just a bowl. do fish live long in this enviroment?:tongue:

wtf for?  I used to own a few goldfish as a kid but ended up flushing them really quickly...  I once let my sisters gold fish slip through the sink hole while cleaning her fish bowl, I told her the thing had passed on:lol:


useless pets,  get a $7 hamster instead, at least you can play with it

get a beta/ chineese fighting fish. i think that they are really trippy. and they like stagnant water

Get a betta, aka fighting fish.

They can live in a bowl, the larger the better. You only need to add a drop of cleaner every time you change the water (weekly), and they don't make much mess (unlike goldfish). They also breathe a little from the surface, so the water lasts longer.

The only downside is you can't get two and keep em in the same bowl. Every once in a while, put a small mirror up to the bowl so they get pissed off and flare out, this helps them get a brighter color.

This.

Bettas can breath atmospheric air (most fish breath oxygen dissolved in the water), so they can live in a bowl with no filter. Just do a weekly water change and add the dechlorinator drop like green titan said. Oh yeah, if someone tries to tell you they eat the roots of a plant in some cutesy set-up they have a the fish store, do me a favor and stab them in the heart. They eat Betta food.

I had a betta when I was a kid. I loved that fish, but then one day my little brother took him out of the bowl, and stuck him into a bottle of shampoo.:sad:

He grabbed it while I was in the shower, and then brought it back to me with the fish in it. He was only 5 or maybe 6 years old.
