it was for her boyfriend, but she has been charged for child pornography, and has to registerd as a sex offender. but she might get a plea deal where she dose not have to register.

what do you think?

I guess I don't see why you have to "register" and announce yourself to the neighborhood for a single category of crimes, but not others.

You don't have to register if you murder someone, why for sex crimes.

because she is 14 years old. she put a nude pic of herself on the internet.  i.e. she is putting child porn on the net.  it doesnt matter if they are pics of herself, she is still putting child porn out there. i read an article a while ago (dont remember where its from) where some 14 and 15 year olds who were dating were sending each other naked pics back and forth. they ggot arrested for child pronography even though they took the pictures themselves. they called it "sexting"...instead of texting. weird

Registering as a sex offender must really suck too. if you fuck a 17 year old, or go streaking at a football game you have to register. And when your neighbors find out about it they probably think you raped a 13 year old or something.

I've always wondered about what you have to tell people when you move in.

I think most neighbors would be understanding if you came up and said, "Hey, I'm your new neighbor.  Listen, this is kinda awkward, but I've gotta do it:  I'm a registered sex offender.  Don't freak out or anything, I just got real drunk one day and went streaking when I was in college.  I'm not into kids or anything sick like that"

This is part of the fallacies (Pun definitely intended) of age of consent laws and things like that. Personally I remember taking a couple nude photo's of my girlfriend when digi-cameras were the new thing and everyone at the photo-centre didn't have to see your home made porn. We were still both well under age at the time but we were just kids having some silly fun. Granted posting that shit on the internet would be foolish, but I think this might have the potential to limit kids from being kids and discovering their own sexuality.

No wonder so many kids are becoming "Confused" these days. :rolleyes: EDIT: I consider people around the age of 1-21 to still be kids in many ways (not that its  a bad thing)

There are some groups who help people who have been victims of sexual assault (who really hate sexual molesters) who are against the registration program because they say it just creates a false sense of security.  Child abusers are usually someone the child knows and trusts (80%) and often a relative, so it really doesn't help much, unfortunately.  I don't think there's many cases where registering someone really helped.

It's also interesting that in the case of Megan (who the law is named after), the kidnapper/raper/killer lived in a house with another sex offender.  Most of the immediate neighbors knew about the other guys criminal history, although the guy who did it recently moved into the house and they didn't know the details on him.  So, it's difficult to say that it would have helped even in that case.  I would assume the parents had told the kids to stay away from anyone in that house since criminals lived there.  Megan's parents say they didn't know about any of it, so maybe they would have been helped if a list was available and they checked it frequently.

So....I'm not sure what to do.
I think it would almost make more sense to just execute serious sex offenders or keep them in jail for ever.  If we know that they are still a threat, why let them out at all.  There's no way to keep kids save from them even if we know who they are, if they are still a threat.

For those sex offenders who have never actually touched another person...well, maybe they aren't sex offenders, but something else.  I know it's terrible to have child pornography...but it definitely doesn't seem to be the same as raping a child....but I guess if there was no market then no one would be abusing kids to create the porn....so, I don't know.

It's definitely a stretch to say that if a child takes a picture of him or herself, that that is a sexual offense that should follow the kid forever.  They should be helped, not punished.

imo, its a victimless crime, i personally wouldnt send online nude pics of myself but i dont think this girl should have to bear any punishment whatsoever.

i did it when i was 14 too.  :shrug:  not saying it's a bright thing to do, but she certainly shouldn't have to bear the badge of sex offender her whole life because of it.  that's just absurd.

Ya I understand the sex offender announcements.

Sex is an urge and basically lifelong, so I believe that sex offenders have the highest instance of repeating the offense.

This story kinda reminds me of a situation in high school.  I was probably about 16 at the time.  A teacher (who was a cunt) left her camera out on her desk and left the room.  I snuck up to the desk, turned the flash on, and stuck the camera down my pants, taking a picture of my junk.  Then I put it back on her desk.

I never heard anything about it after that, but it was a film camera.  I wonder if she realized what it was a picture of when she got it developed.
