Papaver Somniforum dried pods

Hi all,

I know this is a strange question, but how much would 25 large papaver somniferum dried pods on average weigh?

My neighbors lizard wants to know also how much opium could be extracted from that weight of dried pods

It's going to be hard to extract opium from a dried pod, besides the weight of the pod does not mean it contains more opium exactly.
Plus we can't really tell without pics and still it's guestimation.

alright- he was looking to but 50 bucks worth of dry pods, and he's heard you can extract good opium from them, but the lizard wants to know what kind of profit could be expected

if it's minimal then he won't go for it

Very minimal, to give you an idea some folks get 1/4 a gram or less off of a pod, usually less, that's a single dose. 50 pods would be enough for some tea though.

Actually, even at 1/5 of a gram per pod, that 5 grams for the 25 pods- which the lizard says he could get 20 bucks per gram of opium, even more where he lives

so for him, it might be a worthwhile venture

In order to get a substantial amount of opium to sell you would probably need an acres worth of poppies.it seriously isn't even worth trying unless you have thousands of pods to work with.

Even if it's dried pods and he's using the blender/water and heat extraction method?

and he's not talking about substantial, he's just talking about making between 3-10 grams of it, to sell to a couple of people and a little bit of personal use

takes me about 100g poppies to get high.  but that's just me.  i'm kind of a heavy case.  120mg OC is a good day for me so i guess i have a tolerance.

3. If you would do some reading you would see that pods are good for tea and tinctures. Thats about it.

Actually you can Felix,but it involves way too much time and work.Plus you have to let the resulting liquid evaporate,and you will be left with a smokeable hi quality opium.It's kinda like extracting thc from Cannabis,and then evaporating off the chemicals.As far as cutting dried pods to get opium out,it's impossible.

I've heard this, but I feel it is way too much effort as opposed to scaring a fresh pod and letting it bleed for a while and then refining if you so choose. Do it that way and you get some nice seeds and some opium! A+ in my book.

@ Ethnoguy- there really is no right forum, so I thought I would post it in the area with the highest concentration of opium related posts. We are not dealers, this is just about making enough for some friends, but it would be a massive waste to spend 50 dollars on pods, and then give your product away for free. That would be like growing marijuana just to give it away. And I've done immense amounts of reading, and there are hundreds of sources that say you can extract the dried pods, it's just a painstaking effort for a small amount of product. Try google.

@felixhigh- it is possible to extract opium from dried pods, he just wouldn't be scoring them like you would fresh pods- that would be like beating a dead horse. He would be extracting it with water and simmering it, then straining it and letting it evaporate over a few days to get the desired product

@Amberica- It is a shitload of effort, but I don't have access to acres of poppy fields and thousands of poppies, along with the several hours to score every single pod and collect all the opium- I would if I could!

The consensus on poppies.org has always been that you can only get non-smokeable putty from dried pods, not a smokeable product.

Yeah, unless you get the morphine freebase you´re likely to have putty which is not smokable. Some may refine the putty even further like Mitchnast was mentioning in another post (by cold filtering if I´m not mistaken).

I can believe it can get you a little high but I´m to skeptical that a putty subproduct could be comparable with real Opium.
