giving up before I even get started

I don't know shit about forums, right

so I make the mistake of thinking that all I have to do is just simply download some program or another / install the fucker on an empty hard drive I have set aside specifically for the site I want to make / and then just simply click on the icon, an let-er go

WRONG!

apparently you have to download another program JUST so your computer can even *use* the first
(and that one's complicated even more by encrypting the help file in 'Geek Speak' that you need a translator just to understand)

so now you have:
  • message forum software that your computer doesn't recognize
  • software that'll get your computer to recognize it...which you don't understand
  • instruction manuals that might as well be written in ancient sanskrit for all the sense it makes to you
  • and still absolutely no idea how to bring any of this nonsense together in the end
it's like trying to figure out how to build an award winning race car from scraps with NO understanding of how a car even moves to begin with in the first place  :nonono:

I wanted to start my own message forum, ya?
  • so I download the phpBB software kit...and everything's in PHP
  • and then I get some WAMP bullshit that's *supposed to* allow me to view PHP extensions...but I can't figure it out
  • ALL the instruction manuals throw around terms I know nothing about, as if they were saying something a child would understand
and all I can do is scratch my head...like a monkey witha saxaphone  :nonono:

If you want to start your own forum your best bet would be to go somewhere like ezboard and set one up for free without having to actually do much work.
