I think that people who are into "alternative lifestyles" eat shit like this up.  It sounds all interesting and cool to examine these off-the-beaten-path ideas and claims.  And when a person decides to adopt them it makes one feel more enlightened than the average schmuck.  Oftentimes, believing in these ideas is not about the true pursuit of knowledge, rather it is a contrarian and narcissistic vanity based on fantasy.
