Would you buy your junky friends clean needles?

ive got a group of friends who are in pretty deep with opiates. Theyre shooting up several times over with dulled one time use needles. one buddy had to go to the hospital to get his arm worked on. they had to stuff it full of ribbon and bleed it out because it was turning yellow and smelling like road kill. I gave them alcohol swabs to try and clean up their methods. Now im considering buying them fresh syringes so they dont screw their arms up any worse. What would you guys do.

I'd get new friends and stop hanging with junkies...

...but I guess I'm cold-hearted like that.

People choose their own path.

I'd probably hook them up with the resources necessary to get themselves clean needles.. but I guess they'd just spend the money alotted for needles on extra heroin or some shit, right?

But that's their fucking problem at that point.

I'd persuade them to give me their opiates by telling them it's for their own good, and then buy myself some clean needles! :yesnod:

If the walking gangrene won't get em to reconsider then they are gonna be using quite a while longer.  The easier you make it on them the longer it will take for them to get there.

i wouldn't but i wouldn't put myself in the situation where i was hanging out with people doing that to themselves and their bodies.

sure, I work in a hospital. really dont do it often, dont know many junkies anymore.. They sort of died off... If they dont know I tell them where the exchange program is..

I agree. Having your friends go through this is like watching a terminally ill family member who is close to dying, you wonder when the end is near (more like if for those shooting up). You also want to do as much as possible, but it is truly out of your hands. You can't do much except be there when they are ready. They have to overcome that mental disease, which fortunately in this case is possible.
