Upset about black youth during the inauguration.

So today i had class during the inauguration and the professors all decided that we would watch that instead of normal classes today. So i went down to the "african american" room and sat between a black boy and girl who were both prolly under 20 years old. I said hi or something to the boy and started a shallow conversation with him. It took him no more than 3 sentences before he said some shit that blew my mind.

I made a misleading comment to him about how its typical of my college to do some stupid shit (the web feed we were watching cut out in the first room so we moved to the room with the working internet) the boy thought i ment about watching the oath/address and he agreed with me! He went on to say how he thought it was bull shit that we had to watch this "boring shit" in class and that we should be "learning something" instead.

My jaw almost hit the floor. This little dipshits entire family lineage was spent either fighting slavery or being oppressed in every way imaginable (living in the detroit area is no picnic, i dont care who you are) and he was not even a tiny bit affected by the amazing thing that happened on the screen.

I guess i deserve what happened next because i though i could draw him out a bit by asking him what is he going to tell his children when they ask him about today. his reply was that he will tell them its "boring shit" and he wouldn't bring it up to them. Little moments like these remind me why i really hate people.

Then there was the girl on the other side of me. The whole address and oath she sat on her laptop looking for used school books and myspace. Are blacks in this country seriously indifferent? Am i wrong to assume that their parents are worthless for bringing them up to not give a fuck about black progress? What a shame these ingrates are to their dark skin. Its no wonder things have stayed bad for the slave descendants of this country for so long. One more wrong move out of W and this punk would have been listing to Obama's voice from a tent in a middle eastern dessert. I wonder how boring this moment would have been then...

wow, that was incredibly racist. Some dipshit 18 year old kid in whatever 4th rate university you go to wasn't interested in the President? WOW! What a surprise! Youth aren't interested in politics!?

That sounds so typical of everyone I go to school with too, except for the stoners and politicos and do-gooders. Guess what? White kids aren't interested in the inauguration either!

I was at the inauguration, but obviously the people there cared. I was next to one group of black college age kids who had driven the night before from Ohio (10hr drive) to see it. I was also next to another group of black people who had badges about the bus boycott in the 1960's. Many people also sat on the Lincoln memorial, which is very far away from the Capitol building but historic because thats where MLK jr gave his speech.

The people you were sitting next to obviously couldn't grasp the historical value of the inauguration, which is surprising IMO.

lol its true though no one is going to give a shit about today even a week from now, because guess what shits still going to be the same. also its not like whites through a huge party every time their was a white president. come to think of it maybe we should start celebrating january 1 as the day the first white president took office.

Is it wrong to not be uber excited about this "great" achievement in history?
I got into an argument with the teacher and basically got called racist because I said that it didn't matter to me. and i quoted a sick puppies song.

And they didn't appreciate that. Damn nazi teachers.

Im glad I was in class learning something instead of watching the inauguration.  Not that I have anything against it, just dont want to watch it and would rather learn something.

Making such a fuss about a black president, as if it was an honor and a proof of freedom instead of considering it was a shame that it took 230 years to elect a black president. Hey, a black man succeeded, that's extraordiniggery !  It might give the african american community hope for a better future, but I doubt hope wins against blatant discrimination in job interviews or any other social impairment they have to live through.
Change ?  How many black people have a seat in the Senate , how many woman ?  I think the figures are pretty low.

On a lighter side, I sure does hope he does something meaningful.

No, just basing commentary on personal observations. Sorry to use the pub as a blog. Im about to go to an inauguration party, where i will prolly be the only white person in the club. I need to be around some people that give a fuck and like to party.

That wasnt racist at all, neither am i. Stop making thoughtless comments. I doubt you've ever lived with black people. You would benefit from the perspective of a black mentor or two in your life. Make fun of my university all you want girl, when im done ill still be signing my name Dr. farva.
