mailed substance problem

okay so 2 days ago i mailed a close friend some non-smelling substance wrapped in some random papers in an envelope. i put a fake name for him, and i put a fake name for the return address. also i put a nearby apartment as the return address not my own. i realize now that i used a 37cent stamp...how fucked am i?

will it still go through? im guessing itll go to the return address postage due, right?

im paranoid that somehow (dont know how) they can fingerprint or deduce (somehow) from the papers I used to pad the envelope a little, who i am, and im not sure what to do at this point

should i go to the apartment which i put as the return address and say 'hey i realized i fucked up hard and put the wrong return address on an envelope i sent and didnt put enough postage on it, if such and such envelope comes in your mail, can you give it to me?'

this seems like a risk 'cause i don't know who lives there and i'm thinking what if they opened the envelope and saw theres the substance there (obviously an illegal drug, they won't think its anthrax) and then i come by and BAM theyve nabbed my ass.

That actually caused me to laugh out loud. The prospect of going to whoever s door and telling them you fucked up and they should be expecting a letter with an illegal drug in it.

Are your prints in the system for something already? If so, they could in theory trace it back to you. If they care enough to do so..

How illegal a substance are we talking here?

there's actually a good chance the postal service will deliver it anyway. but yah, if it gets returned, you may be screwed. who knows, maybe the person who lives there will make use of said substance.

yeah i know, quite extremely idiotic. dont smoke and mail! im gonna try to find out what kinda person lives there. i asked around and there is a good chance itll get delivered. if not i dont think they can track me through the papers, they dont have my name or address on them or anything.

i cant believe what an epic fail this is though, when i realized what happend i was about to stuff my head through the monitor.

my prints arent in the system and the substance is such a small amount, though schedule 1

serves me right for not keeping up with postage rates...

You know you can post anonymously in the Security and Safety forum. They might have gave you more info.

There is also a post about the postal system there somewhere. It would explain a lot.

They may send it back.

You've violated most of the only a  handfull of rules regarding mailing substances. Get smart.

you should always use the sendee's real first name, at least.  mail carrier's often know the names that go with addresses, and random names they've never seen before can draw suspicion

yes, tell your neighbor to expect a package (tell them the PO notified you of the return address and THATS how you know you accidentally put their #) and say who you sent it to denied it.

As far as the fake name... idk how you explain that

Your neighbor better be a fucking awesome dude or just plain naive.  If I were you I would just let it go.  They won't track it to you on finger prints unless your shit is in the system and even then there's a good chance they won't go that in detail and it will just end up in an incerator at some post office somewhere.

If your neighbor is intelligent he will know something's fishy, and if he catches on that you thought it was acceptable to falsely mail something fishy from HIS address he's going to have a problem with it.

If you let it go 99% chance it will never get tracked back to you unless it was some serious shit or you're already labelled a criminal.

okay i think my best plan of action here is in fact to let it go.

i honestly cannot believe how i was such a dumbass on multiple fronts. i was having a rough day when i sent it out and really its unbelievable how little thought i put to what i was doing.

if it DOES come back to me, serves me right for being a retard about something which in essence is so simple.

It happens. The first time I ordered spore syringes and had them sent to my friend's house, she gave me the WRONG FUCKING ADDRESS. The company got a phone call from 'a concerned resident' and emailed me about it - then they sent it back and shipped it to the right address.

Anyway, best bet is to just let it go.

the envelope arrived safely and my friend is enjoying himself.

he did not have to pay any postage even though it is indeed a 37c stamp.

never, ever, ever, never, ever, ever again will this happen.
