Drought is killing off marijuana plants

Drug enforcement officers in Colorado have been helped by Mother Nature in their battle against drugs.

Drought is killing illegal pockets of marijuana growing in fields around the state.

This year, Larimer County Drug Task Force officers and the Colorado National Guard have found far fewer illegal operations.

Marijuana is often found amid irrigated crops after drug growers pull some plants and replace them with marijuana.

The drug plants then benefit from irrigation and fertilizer, and the growers remove them before the field is harvested.

Task force detective Gary Shaklee said: "This year it was a little dry. We got only 137 plants."

Last year, 1,800 plants were found in Larimer County.

there was a 6000 plant bust out here in washington and about a 5 minute bike ride from my friends house this happened http://www.katu.com/news/story.asp?ID=50616
