WTFing FUCK! Fleas!

You've probably noticed from my posts... I don't keep ANY furry animals. I have a snake, a lizard, and a frog. Yet some how I have fucking fleas in my apartment. At least I'm pretty sure they're fleas. I know bed bugs exist but I have a brand new bed. I guess I'll have to throw one of the mofos under the microscope to confirm (and because it'd just be cool to look at).

I've been noticing these little spots on my skin that looked like flea bites. The last couple of days I've found fucking fleas in my bed when I woke up. This shit makes me furious. I am a pretty hairy dude, but WTF man? Fleas in my apartment with no mammal pets?

I obviously have to get rid of them some how, but going about that is going to be difficult. The reptiles and amphibians I have are pretty sensitive so I have to figure out some way to kill the fleas without killing my pets.

Anyone have any ideas? Do they make Frontline for humans? :lol:

Reptiles with fleas is not unheard of. When I was a kid I had an iguana who got neglected more than I'd care to admit. I'm pretty sure he had fleas when he finally moved out to a new (better) home.

Those things are nearly impossible to get rid of.

You have to either spray the mattress with liquid nitrogen or coat it in this special oil....cant rememer what itscalled but I had it in a lotion and it worked for a night.

Fleas don't live on humans but most people don't realise they will live off humans!

They can happily survive in the carpets of our heated homes. They will eat human blood if theres no other animal they can suck on. They are probably sucking your reptiles too.

Its hard times for dem fleas at your house but they gotta eat too. :crazy:

Ticks are what I hate. I sat down in a cow field, next thing I know theres little black spider looking things all over me. I was going mad - stripping all my clothes off and brushing myself down.

When I got home, I found 2 in my leg and 1 on my fucking nutsack. I'm not fucking joking either... It was fucking disgusting.

I had body lice once, that really sucked, had to shave everything. (Ive got atleast an inch 1/2 of hair on my chest, back, stomach, etc, so they were ALL over)

I'm pretty sure these are fleas, they're tiny, like 1-1.5mm at most.

If I have to bomb this place to get rid of them I might just sue my landlord. Fucking ridiculous.

maybe the previous owner of your place had dogs/cats that had fleas and there were eggs in your carpet, once sum fresh warm blood(you)moved in they started to feed.

I have fleas in my home, i have 2 cats and 2 dogs so that doesnt help.

I gotta flea bomb the place this week sometime.

One of the previous tenants definitely kept cats, when I was moving in and cleaning up I noticed some cat hair stuck to things.

Your egg theory sounds reasonable. I don't wanna have to sprinkle that fucking powder all over the carpet and vacuum it up. A friend of mine had to do that in his office (had a cat in there, don't ask) and it was the biggest pain in the ass. Can't you just spray the carpet down with something, and not have to do the powder? I would google it, but damnit, I'm making conversation, lol.

Edit: weiliiiii, why not get Frontline or Program for your pets? That shit works wonders.

Alright, so I picked up this ginormous 1 gallon jug of pesticide that kills fleas. The instructions say to spray around the edges of the room, doorways, etc.

I've done that. Think I should also cover as much of the carpet as possible? I know it varies, but how likely is it that I'd be absorbing this insecticide though my bear feet when I walk around?

Just make sure there are no mice/rats in the walls... The furry friends in your house don't necessarily have to be pets...

This topic makes me inchy as fuck, I hate fleas. I would just get one of those at home bug bombs and put your animals right out side for 2 hours or so.

It'd probably be a day or two before I'd trust bringing them back in. Especially because I have the frog. Amphibians absorb a ton of stuff through their skin. I've had the frog for about... 5 or 6 years now. If he died because of some stupid ass flea bomb I'd be so fucking pissed, not to mention really bummed out.

The flea problem isn't an infestation, I may find 3 in my bed in a given night. I only found one last night. I sprayed the carpet as well as I could under the bed and around it. The pesticide is pretty strong, I managed to breath a tiny bit in and I was coughing my lungs out for 20 minutes and my nose was running so much that I had to blow it every 5 minutes. I also managed to hit some hideous looking "city centipede" with the stuff directly... Was dead in about 3 seconds. Now you probably understand why I'm hesitant to cover my carpets with it.

Hey, at least I won't have bug problems this winter :smile:

Good luck with that, I used to live with 7 dogs and had fleas in my bed, that was the worst. You can also plant marigolds around your house they contain natural pyrethrins one of the main chemicals in many bug bombs and sprays.

I'm a huge fan of bugs, but these mother fuckers just freak me out:

Guess other people on here have had problems with these fuckers. I'm fine with regular centipedes but the kind pictured just have some extra "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!" value. Won't have to worry about them anymore though.
