an alternative to suicide (or at least putting it off for a while)

Ok, so what do you think of this....

When things get shitty I do the whole, I wish I could stop existing thing... But I don't really want to off myself.

And I was thinking, if things continue down a shitty road, heres my plan.

First I sell my car.
Then I buy a one way plane ticket to somewhere exotic.
I have a credit card with a high limit on it. So I live off that for a while and when the well eventually dries up, I rent a boat and go out into the sea and drown myself. Then my debt will drown with me.

I would tell my family the plan I think... Once I have left the country.


Any suggestions for my plan?

I had a terrible family tragedy happen that tore everyone apart into 6 different clusters. My "family" is now my parents and my long time girlfriend.

The tragedy was so bad I can't live a day without thinking about it after nearly 5 years of therapy. I think of how lucky everyone else is that they don't have to bear it as long as I have to. They may have 5,10,20 years, but I may have 50-70.

When they're gone, I'm gone, so I don't have such a heavy cross to bear. I've come to terms with it and I live every day like it's my last.

This life has a lot to offer, and I'm seizing the moment... when it comes.

Who is to judge a logical, autonomous moral agent that makes a rational decision to end their existence? The U.S. stigma is terrible, but fuck it, if there's no one left and it's an end to your misery who cares?

I believe in choice.

You always have choice.

Choice to live. Choice to die. Choice to smoke. Choice to fry. Choice and free will are the principals of humanity.

If you feel the world no longer holds value in your continued existence, then do as planned. I only wish that you ensure you're making the right decision and fully realize the impact that it will have on those that care about you.

I used to be suicidal, but I know now that if I went through with it, the pain I would cause to the people that (probably) give a shit about me would be a thousand times more than the pain I deal with.

or, you leave them life lessons in the form of letters, like in that movie with the dude with cancer that leaves that chick notes after he dies (i saw it on a plane).

then the people you leave learn lessons and grow and you are with them always.

Then maybe the pain wont be so hard to bear?

I could set up some sort of treasure hunt for them... let the travel around finding things i hid throughout the places that my credit limit takes me

declare bankruptcy, it ain't that hard.  And, a lot of bad stuff can happen in life.  There are many ways we can be betrayed by others.  You don't need to add to it by betraying yourself, and that's exactly what suicide is IMO.  Its the ultimate act of self-betrayal.  Do not do it.

yeah, i want to know what happened too...

Anyway, yeah I just like to have a plan in case things go south. I respect other people's decisions to kill themselves. I work in behavioral health. I just see too many people circling the drain... and draining the life out of their families and friends. People hit a point where they are just a sponge, sucking the life out of people. Id rather go out before I suck if I hit that point.

i found myself feeling the same way head off to somewhere and live until the money is gone but really your just trying to run from yourself and guess what yourself comes along for the ride so you'll still feel the same way. I guess you gotto deal with your problems now cause running from them later isnt going to help.
