Visiting government websites...
    #9002074 -

I'm sure there is lots of information, but I have some research to do yet. I am wanting to hear what ya'll think and feel about information certain organizations collect.
Scenario: I've recently become interested in getting ( permanently ) a handgun carrier license. So, I'm reading up on the laws and how to go about, when I realize that they could be capturing information from my web browser. If this information were to be reviewed at another time (maybe put in question by flags  ), alot could be learned.
Think I'm being paranoid? What (if anything) can be done? What are your thoughts?

Peer Guardian 2
Clear cache and cookies upon exiting browser
Get a firewall

That's what I do.  Not sure about anyone else.  Browsing by proxy would be another option, but I'm much to lazy...

I'm figuring a  proxy server is really my only alternative. I've tried to understand using a proxy, but I just can't seem to get it down.
I own hide ip platnum, so I guess I'll be learning how to use that.
Do others like myself worry about frequenting certain web sites, or having them set to your homepage and then having to visit a government branch server?

Closing your browser and clearing all information (would have to be done with all browsers as the information can be migrated), changing your homepage, and only visitng those sites in that session may be a little of a help.
And a firewall wouldn't do anything as the information can probably be extracted through the cookie.
I dunno, I'm guessing, I'm not that savvy.

my thoughts are that if such a program existed it would be foolish to use it to go after anything you are doing and expose the program to an inevitable leak that would come with such widespread use, which would lead to much bitching

So I doubt they care, and I doubt you have anything to worry about unless you do anything illegal with your connection to the government's site, like email george bush your baby pictures (presuming your mom was the moraly repugnant beast mine was and didn't cover my naughty bits when she took the pictures).

Yeah, that's normally my view. I really don't care, I don't have anything for them.
What I'm getting to [in this particular scenario] is that these [tactics] are being used silently as an early warning, let's say.
Joe Schmoe visits the state LE site to get familiar with the laws. Joe  applies to sled for a permit. Joe's background and character are checked and researched having some [cached] web browser information to go on.

I am in the process of setting up hide ip, as it is the clear answer. I'm at the stuck point now, looks like it should be easy, but I'm not seeing in Firefox what their help and support says I should (small green text at bottom right in FF) any help there?
If I don't find an answer, I might post in S&T.
