I understand the arguement there but Merriman wasnt the heart of our team like Brady is (or appears to be).

Lots of injuries this week.

This is honestly the main reason why I fell out of love with football. The injuries play such a HUGE part of the equation. I know that it can and does happen in other sports, but it's nowhere near such a factor.

Sucks to see so much star power go down so quickly.

i consider merriman to be pretty damn instrumental to your team.


obviously not as much as Brady, but not having Shaun running off the end is a pretty big thing to be missing.  The guy's a beast barely entering the prime of his career.



I always considered SD's defense to be a bit more consistent than their offense.  And obviously Merriman was a big part of that.

True but down the stretch last year he wasnt really a factor and thats when we were playing better football. The playoffs he came back in but, again, wasnt a factor. I'm sure this surgery is the best thing for him in the long term. A lot of the coaches have been really high on Jyles Tucker so it will be interesting to see him play.

Our defense just needs to learn to tackle. There is no reason to hit a guy 3 yards behind the line and have him stager for a 10 yard gain.

The Chargers seem to consistently have a shaky early season then turn hot from mid-season to the end.

This season will be no different.

Yes, Liquidsmoke, Merriman plays a huge part in SD's D.

However, at this current rate in the NFL there will be 2-3 major players getting broken and not playing for a considerable time each week this season.

Mark my words.


I personally blame it on the NFL unwritten policy to play/practice like marshmallows in the pre-season then suddenly be expected to play like a play-off seasoned player out of the gate is stupid.

I can see relaxing some players a bit, especially those working on healing surgeries/injuries.  But to sit a healthy player the ENTIRE preseason is crazy.   

Each player needs to be acclimated to the hit or be hit mentality of NFL calibre play before Kickoff Sunday.

There is a difference in what I consider juicing vs. what happened to Merriman. He should have known (maybe he did) and he should not have taken the suppliment. But, he was not using a needle to shoot up steroids, which is what you seem to be implying.

How on earth do you KNOW that he never juiced? Have you ever truly been around bodybuilding or top notch athletes?
