why do hippies blame the economy on everything?

It is going slow right now, but I have noticed how many hippies have been using it as an excuse.

"I can't get a job right now because we are in an economic depression"
Or maybe you need to get a fucking haircut, shave, and put on deodorant. Look somewhat decent.

"I am dropping out of the school because of the economy"
I don't understand what the economy has to do with that, maybe mommy and daddy lost their jobs? I don't really get this one?

The only thing I can complain about right now is gasoline prices. I haven't noticed anything different other than that...
