Pineapple Express was disappointing.

I mean, I laughed pretty consistently throughout but it just constantly loses steam. The whole last 45 mins to an hour are just boring and so full of shots of guns being fired and reloaded that it became easy to forget I had come to see a stoner comedy. Maybe I'm losing my ability to suspend my disbelief and enjoy absurdity when it's obviously supposed to be absurd, but it just got so over the top I stopped enjoying it at all.  All in all I'd give it a six out of ten I suppose. 

I had high hopes in the beginning as they took a snarky jab at the government making pot illegal...I even convinced myself that hey, this movie was going to be a stoner comedy that also had something to say about the fallacies that drive the drug war! But no...no, sir, it did not.

I thought it was hilarious, but wasn't really expecting (or hoping for) a preachy movie. :shrug:

I'm just tired of seeing fictional characters get stoned, make jokes and go on wacky adventures. I need more substance to my stories. Though the movie did have quite a few funny parts, it was over all what I expected to get.

I wasn't hoping for or expecting a preachy movie either...the intro scene just sort of set me up to think when the movie went into the whole rival drug dealer thing it was going to somehow tie back to blaming it on the government being illegal. But in all actuality that little intro was pointless except for being hilarious..

it was a good, im glad it had action, and the death scenes were funny.

i could not agree more with this thread.  it wasn't a bad flick, but a pot comedy should be more about getting stoned and the crazy antics you get into while high.  i thought it was funny, but not the 10 bucks a ticket.  wait til dvd so you can stay high the whole time.  hopefully the DVD will have some funny shit in it.
