FDA-APPROVED PSILOCYBIN RESEARCH
    #854754 - 08/31/02 11:55 AM (14 years, 3 months ago)

The first FDA-approved study in over 25 years to examine the use of psilocybin in a patient population is now underway. The principal investigator, Dr. Francisco Moreno, University of Arizona, Tucson, plans to study the use of psilocybin in 10 patients suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). They want to determine if they can replicate in a clinical study several published case reports of patients whose OCD symptoms were reduced after self-experimentation with psilocybin mushrooms.

*August 6, 2002: The second patient in this study was treated.

I think someday they will end up using psilocybin for chronic migraine head aches.

Great link. My daughter has ocd & tourettes (she's 6) and I have mild ocd, so this was of special interest to me. Wonder why they didn't show the dosage they intend to give?

I can see where this might help. I have heard off people with this disorder before... as I understand it these people are often known to wash there hands every few minutes... and to spray Lysol on door knobs... etc.... I feel that a minor trip or two could "wake these" people up to see things a litle diferently.

How will tripping help when your hands really do get dirty every few minutes and bacteria do collect on the doorknob? (BRB - gotta wash).

Well, I admit thats it's sort of a "leap"...

My point is how a trip can make one look at there lives from another angle. For example: Once after several weeks on a drinking binge I decided not to drink that night and trip on some 'shrooms instead.... It was not untill the peak of my trip that I realized what a mess my apartment was! All of sudden I could see that my dishes were piled high, things were simply a mess... If I had not of triped then, who knows how long it would of took for me to see what was so obvious to others around me.

I feel that some can be "woken up" via 'shroom self induced reality attacks this way.

unfortunately they say : NA ... but some lines later on the protocol [have you read it in full?] they say:

c. Doses reported in previous human clinical trials (as reported in IND application): 2 to 30 mg.

Wow, thats great. I beleive that if one used mushrooms with the thought of having self-enlightenment,it will have some extrodinary results, according to my expereince.
Imagine how it could just "wake people up", so to speak, with a mushroom trip. My freind quite smoking because he woke up, and realized he was being controlled by an inadamate(sp) object. The though of this was just to much, and he did not want to smoke anymore at all. This is just a simple example.
Although, I think that a mushroom trip may, for the wrong people and the wrong reason, bring out built up mental illness, or may cause if abused. I see the poor little mushrooms being used for the wrong reasons all the time, its too bad. I am to stoned to go on.
