Jesus said "so that ALL might have life" not "only those who believe in me". I think Jesus was awesome. he never said he was God by the way. His teachings were deep and full of amazing light and love. His followers, not so much.

John 10:30 "I and the Father are one."
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Not to derail the thread, but if you say jesus wasn't god, what he said was either megalomania or insanity, and that hardly makes his teachings beautiful.

To address the first quote, Jesus did not say that just because he and the Father are one, that only he and the Father are one.

Also, both of those quotes are from John, which I believe is the least credible out of any of the Gospels.

I'd consider Mark to be less reliable, considering the questionable inclusion of chapter 16, verses 9-20.

all churches should be bulldozered and replaced by something useful and beneficial, like a tree or something.

The idea of the trinity didn't become mainstream until the Council of Nicaea declared it so, and then it was help firm by killing those who spoke against it. A lot of churches don't really take a firm stance on the subject anymore because of it's controversial nature, even centuries after the Reformation.

My opinion is that people who beleive in the trinity are taking the bible way too literally. Most of the verses where this beleif arise from could much more easily be understood to dismantle rather than support it.

It's all bs anyways, I bet the man Jesus would have got a real kick out of this interpretation.

Just goes to show what a bunch of men thrown in a room can think up.

Also, some faiths believe that Jesus and the holy spirit are all aspects of the same godhead. Choosing which testament to believe seems like a crap-shoot.

Many times in the bible Jesus talks to his father (God), if Jesus was God then he had an issue with split personalities.

Also, realize that the current version of the bible has been rewritten time and time again. In each rewriting, some of the true meaning was lost. Man has a desire to control people, and has used the bible as a tool for that control.

Many Christians claim that the teachings of Jesus supersedes the teachings of the 10 commandments, which I find to be ridiculous.

Jesus fulfilled the 10 commandments. He was sent here to teach us how to live by the 10 commandments, not do away with them.

I don't buy the whole "Jesus is God" bullshit. It goes against the teachings of the 10 commandments.

By praying to Jesus, rather than God, these people are perpetrating the biggest sin you could do.

My family is very religious, and always pray to Heavenly Father, meaning God. God and Jesus, in most churches, are seperate beings. The three members of the Godhead are God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit, and most churches accept these to be seperate entities. Praying to Jesus would be against most religions, but I don't believe many people actually do so.
Just figured I would let you know.

Actually, most churches accept the idea of the Trinity, which is, in part, the idea that Jesus was both fully human and fully God, in a way that is hard for us to understand. Separate, but at the same time One.

I don't know what you mean by saying "praying to Jesus would be against most religions", but most Christians I know pray directly to Jesus, because they see Jesus as God.
Just to clarify.

You're right. Most Christians believe in the Trinity, not the Godhead.

"The Trinity is the term employed to signify the central doctrine of the Christian religion -- the truth that in the unity of the Godhead there are Three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, these Three Persons being truly distinct one from another.

Thus, in the words of the Athanasian Creed: "the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and yet there are not three Gods but one God." In this Trinity of Persons the Son is begotten of the Father by an eternal generation, and the Holy Spirit proceeds by an eternal procession from the Father and the Son. Yet, notwithstanding this difference as to origin, the Persons are co-eternal and co-equal: all alike are uncreated and omnipotent. This, the Church teaches, is the revelation regarding God's nature which Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came upon earth to deliver to the world: and which she proposes to man as the foundation of her whole dogmatic system. "

My parent's church, the Mormon church, chooses not to embrace the Trinity principle, but the Godhead principle, in which God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are all completely seperate from each other.

I believe in the one who made us all. I don't believe in anything any human has ever said or supposedly done. You can't trust any book or documentary for the real truth, because it is all subjective. If nazi germany won the war, im sure the history books would put them in the right, and we all would believe whatever their books say. How can people put so much store in every little fact about the bible? Men wrote the bible. Men who were leaders, trying to bring people out of the dark ages after the fall of rome wrote the thing. There were many books that could have made it into the bible, but the ones that were chosen to make up the christian bible were all picked by men. Men who had their own agenda.

I belive in god, but i dont belive anything that anyone tells me about god. I make my own assumptions, then try to live my life morally and right. Any idiot knows the difference between right and wrong, it just take a good person to make those good choices.

hmm i always thought that psychedelics made you more accepting of other viewpoints.

like personally i don't really have a stance on religion, god may or may not exist, but either way it doesn't affect how i act.

the church brings communities closer together through a common purpose. what religion that is isn'T all too important, if it fundementally teaches you to treat others kindly.

of course there are the church goers who go over the top with it, damning people to hell etc, but at the same time you wouldn't want some idiot blaming psychedelics as his reasoning for doing stupid things to represent everyone who does them.
