I didn't go to the Rockies opener
    #8239639 -

I was wondering how it was. My kiddos were very saddened by the idea that I.d be out of town on my birthday, so I came home. It looks like they got smoked, but how was the scene otherwise?

I guess I'm hoping to hear it was a pain and wasn't  worth it

I had more fun at Sports Column the two hours I was there before the game.  Fuckin' place was PACKED.  Standing room only except for the few pregnant chicks.

Crowd was raucous at the beginning but lost patience really early.

The Rockies played like shit.  One run on two hits which was a Helton home run in the 7th.  Then the crowd got retarded.  A guy a few rows behind me was having a good time and wanted to start The Wave which he did for about two sections and this old fuck stood up and yelled "this isn't Invesco field" and I yelled "is this your first Rockies game, you prick?" and the section laughed and he didn't talk again.

Then a few sections to my right there was a fist fight between a Diamondbacks fan and a Rockies fans.  The Dbacks fan got nailed in the face, a huge red welt developed under his eye as they were both escorted.  It was awesome.

Had a good time though and I'm going to tomorrow night's game.

Thanks for the report. Ironically, the one time I went to the BOB, a Cards fan and a DBacks fan got into it. I've been to a handful of other games, and never seen anything close to this happening. Just another reason to root against Az.

Have fun tomorrow.

Let's just hope they start winning soon. I guess they just need a little time to shake off the nerves and settle into the groove.

Yeah, tonight's game was a bummer too. It's weird how most people just blow off early season games with baseball, as if the ones coming down the stretch mean more. Every game matters, just ask the Padres. :tongue2:

I love the pics of a baseball game!

Nothing like seeing baseball in person.

Do you get a little rush when you walk through the concourse and see all the bright bright green of the field?

I get goosebumps every time.

Jesus, now I need tickets to a baseball game, stat.

I live five minutes from Miller Park and they play there today.

But I hate the Fucking Brewers.

I should wear all my Cubs gear and go cheer obnoxiously for the Giants.

I live about 5 minutes from Coors Field. If the Rockies don't get better quickly, I may not be going to that many this year.

I'm kidding, cuz baseball atmosphere is 50% of the reason I go.

Last night, we sat by about four couple where the females were COMPLETELY not into baseball. I felt so sorry for the guys. When Helton doubled down the right field line to score a run, bitches don't even flinch while the whole stadium erupted.

I usually go to games myself and talk to other baseball/Rockies fans.

What about you?

I go to Brewers games w/ friends from work quite a bit, but they get angry because I am vocally in favor of the Brewers losing at all times. Plus, I like to score baseball and nobody under the age of 60 even knows what a scorecard is anymore, so they all think I'm a bit weird.

When I was a kid me and my Dad used to go out to Wrigley all the time. I still try to go when I can because despite what people say tickets are usually pretty easy to get and reasonably priced. But I don't get out there more than three or four times a season.

And I've been known to hit up games by myself. I'm a baseball junkie, so if its a team I'm vaguely interested in I'll be out there. Miller Park is a great place to see a game, but their ushers are like the Hitler Youth. You are never allowed to move to better seats, EVER. Even if the place is 9/10 empty like it used to be when the Brewers fucking sucked there will still be an seat policy strongly enforced.

Ushers at Coors Field usually aren't that bad.  But Opening Day Friday they were full-fledged Nazis, no Hitler youth anywhere.

If I ever get married, the girl must be a baseball fan.  And not just a casual fan, a person who will argue with me about what pitch is going to come next or whether or not the left fielder should be hugging the line that much.

Yep, like I told someone else yesterday; if she's cute and likes baseball lock her up immediately.

You can work on the other stuff later.

That is insane. We would have been no further than a few rows from each other, I'm sure of it. Looks good.

Oh yeah. I will never forget my first game, I was 21 and to walk into Coors (which is one of the most beautiful parks anyway) and see it open up into that field of green, the perfect dirt....wow.

My wife fits that mold. She's really grown. I thought for a while she was just into it because of me, but she'll throw out knowledge here and there that's really introspective.

Coming home to your wife watching baseball FTW!!
