Taser used on woman on Ecstasy [WAVELAND]

Police used a Taser this week to subdue a woman who allegedly took a mind-altering drug, told officers she had been stalked by unknown persons, then tried to elude arrest by running toward heavy traffic.

Waveland Police Chief James Varnell said he fears that Ecstasy, a "rave" drug in the 1980s and 1990s, might be making a comeback.

About 6 a.m. Thursday, Waveland police answered a call from a gas station and convenience store on U.S. 90. There, Officer Clay Necaise encountered Sarah Elizabeth Clark, 26, of Kiln.

Clark told Necaise she felt she was being stalked, but could not identify a stalker. She asked for more officers on the scene for her safety, and Officer Patrick Barber was summoned.

While being interviewed, Clark "repeatedly stated all she wanted to do was go home to her mommy," Varnell said.

Clark eventually admitted taking three "hits" of Ecstasy and was found in possession of a small quantity of the drug, Varnell said. She was taken to the Waveland Police Department on U.S. 90. Upon leaving the car, Clark bolted and began running toward heavy morning traffic on the highway.

"She just jumped and ran," Varnell said. Officers subdued her with a Taser as she approached the traffic lanes. An ambulance was summoned, but Clark refused medical treatment and also refused to be photographed or fingerprinted, authorities said.

She was taken to the Hancock County sheriff's booking facility, held under $11,000 bond, and booked with possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest by flight. An April 24 court date was set in Waveland Municipal Court.

Ecstasy, or MDMA, is a synthetic, mind-altering controlled substance with a chemical makeup similar to methamphetamine. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, its effects can include psychotic episodes, confusion, depression and severe anxiety.

"We haven't seen it in awhile," Varnell said. His department has also had recent cases involving LSD, a drug popular in the 1960s and '70s. "When you start seeing something like this, it's most probably going to make a return," he said.

Waveland police began using Tasers to subdue potentially dangerous suspects after Hurricane Katrina. In this case, the device helped stop a suspect from harming herself, Varnell said.

A Taser will temporarily freeze the body, allowing a subject to be subdued and handcuffed without force. "I was never for them until I saw what they can do," Varnell said.

And that's why you don't tell the cops about your invisible stalkers...

Man, I can't imagine how that felt.

Man, these cops are some f*<king idiots. They think ecstasy has disapeared from the streets since the 90s, and is just making a comeback. I think most users are smart enough not to talk to cops while rolling, but she happened to spill her guts, and ended up paying for it. Should've had some friends with her.

So they booked for her possession for having ingested the substance?

Is that really what they mean?

Retard should've chucked the ecstasy somewhere before the cops showed up. Retrieved it later. They couldn't have arrested her with nothing on her, even if she was clearly rolling.
