I used to contribute to this site in my day, but I stopped, and not because I can't find time, or resources, but because I don't like the direction the shroomery is taking. Mind you, the amount of contents admins have created = 0.0something

Smooth. Plainly state that you haven't read what your criticizing, and throw in an ad hominem. You managed to criticize me for having spent less time at the place you're claiming sucks. Even if your senority had some kind of validity to the issue, you're kind of invalidating by saying the source of it isn't worthwhile. It's like being derisive of America and looking down of foreigners.

Really, what the hell direction are you talking about? Making money off banner ads? Thats, ya know, the internet.

You have no point. If you did, you'd have stated and supported it by now. There's no direction that this site is going that's going to seriously inconvenience you. You're just whining for it's own sake.

Greed is in the eye of the beholder. To you, it's greedy that we try and get people to see our ads. To me, it's greedy that you've been coming to the site for five years, yet you won't give up just a few pixels on your monitor to help us cover expenses. By default Adblock doesn't even detect our banners, you would have had to set up a custom filter. We turned a net loss last year, by the way.

Now I use a banner blocker myself, but I keep a whitelist of sites with inoffensive banners which I want to support, and just as it's my right to selectively block the banners, it's the site owner's right to detect that and nag me about it. It certainly doesn't make them greedy, they're still the ones providing the free service after all.

I do appreciate that most people in this thread seem to understand this, thanks!

I for one love paying to help support the site.
I don't know any other place that has all the features this one does.
Anyone who can't see the excellent work that Ythan has done is either blind or has their allegience elsewhere.

I've been coming here a lot more than that, and it seems I won't be anymore soon enough.

Do you realize that, being forced to see the banners, one might click on them even less than when he/she has them blocked, or, actually, has the need to?

I'd love to support the site, but not when I'm forced to.

Coming here without intention of supporting the site, and complaining about ads which our sponsors pay good money to have displayed, is about as low as one can get.

No! They fucking aren't! They're tiny! I'm like 5 foot fuckin' 10, 180 some odd pounds. There's that one fucking underground mushroom that's like three miles across, but it's a fringe case.

Are you trying to imply that the people who run this joint are claiming psychadelic mushrooms as their own personal conceptual property? Come the fuck on. A website where information on how to grow them, and peoples reflections on their experiences with them, are literally offered free to anyone who can type in the URL?

At the end of the month, someone gets the bill for server space.
