what is the wavelength of 3.5 million Hz ultrasound as it travels through human tissue.

frequency x wavelength = c

c being the speed of light, or 3 x10^8 m/s.

Just crunched the numbers, you should get
wavelength = 11.7 mm

c is in m/s
so that's in meters

c = (wavelength)(frequency)
wavelength = c / freq. = 3E8 / 3.5E6

That makes sense for an ultrasound.

Um, they all gave you the wrong answer.

While the equation is v=f*lambda, v does not equal c. C is the SPEED OF LIGHT! Ultrasonic waves travel at... the speed of SOUND! Sound, sonic... get it?
In particular, it's the speed of sound through human tissue.

A quick google revealed that the speed of ultrasound through soft tissue is ~1500m/s

So:

1500 m/s = 3.5 * 10^6 Hz * lambda

lambda ~ 4.29*10^-4 meters or 429 micrometres.

Drug forum? does anyone else object to this title? I hate that term for alot of reasons. Especially since i quit our little hobby. I dont do drugs, am i not welcome here? Are you saying mushrooms are just drugs? not my favorite term for them either. :crankey:
