Cultural Transcendence

I belive a great goal to strive for is to step outside your own cluture and see who you really are, who everyone else is & what we are all doing. It is very easy to become consumed in what is "happening" or what seems to be "occuring". However when you can make the push, break through the barriers and Transcend the culture... You see things in a very different light. William Blake has an amazing quote which explains this well, it goes "If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is: Infinite" What he means here is that our perception is dirty or polluted. Sadly most people in western culture are perfectly content with polluted perception, but this staying the case keeps the workflow going, the widgets being tightened, the gears turning, and false hopes for happiness alive. If our culture wanted we could transcend this catastrophe and advance global/human progress at a highly accelerated pace. Yet there are people who do not want that. These people have what Ram Dass reffers to as "vested intrest in the ongoing game" and it is this mentality that is holding humanity back. They are striving so hard for self intrest that it acts as a plauge that creeps through the televisions, through the radio, through advertisements, through law, and through the archetypes that they have molded FOR YOU, that most just consume & consume & consume until the day comes where there will be nothing left. So in order to transcend the culture we must look at things in a new way. See the possibility & the potential for humanity. We must also step back and look at ourselves and ASK QUESTIONS. Then we begin to see the simplicity of all things. We begin to see there is no "They", mabey you don't NEED that product or this car or that boat. Mabey what I need is to realize the humbling beauty of being human to shine out through creativity, peace & love. And if you can see past the bullshit and see that... Then you have transcended
