Ban On Baggy Pants
    #7945762 - 01/28/08 03:08 PM (16 years, 4 days ago)

http://www.drphil.com/speak_main/

Just watched this on Dr. Phil.

There is a link to watch the video from today at the bottem, it will prolly only be there for the rest of today, after that you'll have to find it on the site yourself.

12 states have put into effect an ordinance that makes sagging your pants a ticketable offense.

Yo ucan be fined up to 500$ or face 6 months in jail for wearing your pants to low. This is in effect in 12 states already.

They ask on the show if it should be banned and they have a bunch of retards and mothers and the yin yang twins and blah blah. It was good and a lot of good poitns came up but I found myself yelling at the T.V. answers that should have been used.

The federal government banning pants sag is a revokation of our freedom. We have a right to free speech and freedom of expresion. So why are they trying to implement a dresscode?

They say it's offensive and disrespectful to see, but people consider to much clevage on low cut shirts the same thing so why don't they ban that?

They also bring up that they could conceal a weapon in the pants...

YOU CAN CONCEAL A WEAPON IN ANYTHING!!

Now I'm not for letting your ass hang out..I let my pants sag to a comfortable level but not where my whoel ass is out. I do it basically because it's a comfort thing, rather then have my pants above my belly button and tied off with a belt.

But who are these people to tell us we cant dress that way and to enforce laws against it.

So you don't like looking at someones ass hanging out of their pants (covered by boxers) and wanna tell them to cover ti up.

Well I might not like your face but I don't tell you to cover it up?

This is rediculous and I encourage you all to watch the episode in the link (only good for today) and share your opinion.

Edit: Also read the posts and debate on the Dr. Phil message board on the topic as well. Some are good points, some are absolutely ignorant and foolish.

I just turned on the tube, I'll catch the last 20min I guess.

Putting a ban on baggy pants is allowing the government to overstep its boundaries. Clothes are not going to hurt anyone.

If baggy pants are illegal, then people could start making an argument that day-glo colors are too abrasive on the eyes and they should be banned too.

Whole thing is fucking ridiculous and Dr. Phil sucks penis.

Sagging pants is stupid. Pants were designed to be worn at the waist, not at your knees. There is nothing cool about it. I don't need to see your underwear. Plus people who sag their pants waddle around like they're half retarded just so their pants don't fall down. I'm glad they're doing this.

Gumby, I hate saggy pants just as much as you do. But allowing this to be illegal is dangerous.

Do you honestly want the government telling you how you should dress? Worst case scenario is the government banning certain books from the library because they are offensive to certain people. For example, all books about Nazi's must be removed because they are offensive to Jews. Do you see where I am going with this?

The point here is not baggy pants.

The point is that Dr. Phil is Satan incarnate.

That has to be the most retarded thing I've ever seen. Probably so many people will just refuse to give a crap that the ban will have no effect. If it does, though, that's just strange beyond reason.

To the original poster:

Being uninformed on the issue, but reading what you posted...

It sounds like the bans are coming from the state side, not the federal side. Is this correct to assume? You said states are banning it, 12 currently, and yet you also said that the Federal Government is infringing on our constitutional rights. Could you clear this up for me?

I wasn't being completely serious. It's still a fucking stupid "fashion statement."

When I was in Atlanta over break I heard about this on the news and instantly said "Are you fucking serious?"

If Atlanta passes that law they're going to be pulling in a lot of revenue

I'm sure the ACLU will be on this one like stank on shit.

Virginia has had an anti-crack law since 2005; you can get a fifty dollar ticket for showing your bloomers or buttcrack. :cuckoo:

You don't have a right to show your fuckign ass to me wherever I go. In your own house is one thing, but in the mall, at the movies, down he street, and anywhere else these ghetto ass thugs go I do NOT want to be seeing their fucking business! You do NOT have a "RIGHT" to show off your ass, I'm sorry but you don't. It infringes on other people's rights who don't want to see that retardation. Do it in your own damn house if you think it makes you look cool. Or better yet, try getting a decent job dressed up like a damn thug.

This is really dumb...regardless of what like or don't like to see, aren't there more important issues to worry about?

Yeah, which is why this issue has been dealt with. Ban on people looking like fucking idiots that don't know how to dress, case closed, moving on.

Tight pants are just as dumb, but not as offensive. Nice try though. Maybe the next stereo-type you post will fit me.
