Tre makes mac and cheese, Tiffany makes Spaetzle, Josie makes a dumb mistake, Betty still can't cook and Padma's still useless as always. Were they sure that this wasn't a montage of the past three seasons? oh, no, wait it's the same crap I've seen all of them do over again. Honestly, if you're tagged to go on a show like this and especially after having gone through the actual competiton, wouldn't you plan to do things that you havn't made yet, at least on camera for a celebration themed one night competiton with a handsome food budget? Seriously, mac and cheese. I mean I love it as much as the next guy but look at the panel of judges you have to impress, most come from NYC where truffled mac and cheese was done ten years ago, seared scallops? how hard is that to do? if they wanted to impress Eric Ripert they would have poached it instead, and they certainly picked some of the crappiest people to bring back. It wouldn've been better if they at least had the winners from all three seasons as part of the group and then just have them win money for a charity. I would have loved to see Hung, Elian and the guy from the first season (I forgot his name) go at it.

hahaha, i'm watching it right now.
I was glad to see Tre back in there though. But I agree it's really lame he just did another seared scallop. I don't even remember how many times over the past two seasons i've seen someone do seared scallop.
Marcel seems to have lightened up. And that crazy mohawked dyke still can't cook.

btw i think the name you're thinking of is Howard Dieterle.
i'd love to eat at his restaurant one day and order that "duo of kobe beef" dish he made for the finale.

"this is only my second time making pie dough."
what the fuck? Top Chef! Hello!!!? Jesus, my grandmother can make pie dough blind folded.
"I'm not a pastry chef."
Such a cop out excuse. Even a normal savory chef should know how to, at the very least make one or two simple desserts, a good chef should be well rounded, not stuck to just one aspect of cookery. Most if not all of the best chefs in the world started in pastry.
and what the hell was Marcel thinking about when he made that turkey liver dumpling and omlet salad thing? I have such high hopes for him and he always seems to let me down. also, if he didn't want to overcook that lamb but still wanted to be succulent inside he should have slow cooked it in a >200F oven, chilled it down then seared it off righ before serving. Lamb loins do extrememly well with the reverse searing technique, and this would have definitley seperated him from Tre's lamb dish which although staid and common was better executed.

I was also surprised by Marcel's dishes.
He's turned hippy on us.
