Infected Toe

I cut my tonail to short and it got infected. I thought the pain was just from cutting it, but today it looked all swollen and a little red. I squezzed it and got a little pus. I disenfected it and put a band-aid on it with some neosporne. I just took some echinchea extract as well. Do you think I could put echinachea directly on it? What else should I do? I'm not the one to take infections lightly.

I've done the same thing and ended up taking it to a doctor to have the offending piece of toenail removed. It ended up growing back wrong and getting infected again, forcing me to go through the entire process another time, but the second doctor said the first doctor didn't put a chemical on he was supposed to that would have prevented it from becoming ingrown again. It never grew back the same as it used to be...
Either way, I'd rather take it to a doctor than lose a toe, or foot.

See this kind of shit scares me! I don't think its that bad, but should I see the doc? I realy do hate them doctors (well just my doctor I guess). I never get sick or anything so idk what to do. I am usually really big on finding a homeopathic or natural cure. I am the kind of person that takes their health into their own hands.

Any number of things can be applied to it. Vinegar, tea tree oil, oregano oil, etc. All of the above are antibiotic. I would try something like that and watch it closely. If it doesn't improve soon see a doctor.

I had this happen to me a while back, it was extremely painful and I had to wait about 3 months until I could see a doctor.
He numbed my foot and just pulled off my toe-nail. The amount of puss and oil that my toe emitted cannot be expressed through words...

Yeah, I'm not trying to scare you. I'm sure you'd have plenty of time rto decide if you need a doctor or not. Your toe won't rot overnight. Try your remedies and if things don't improve after a week or two then take to a doc. I didn't have much puss when my toenail was ripped off, but then again I looked away after the blood started pouring

Epsom salt + some warm water + foot + in tub. Put a very small ball of cotton under the nail, where its infected.

That's some of the best advice out there. I had the same thing happen 4 years ago, treated it like that to reduce the swelling and infection, but eventually I had to had 1/3 of my nail removed in order to allow it to regrow properly. Not the most fun, but definitely could have been a lot worse (losing a toe or something).
