i need excuses to get out of a wedding

So I have just received the oh so cute wedding reception invitation (she's actually getting married in Mexico) for an enchanted evening from my annoyingly perfect perky step sister..
I don't want to go.. and neither does my SO..
But I don't know how to politely refuse the invitation... The "Sorry I have to work" excuse won't fly because the reception is in May..
So dear shroomites, what would you say to get out of a wedding you didn't want to go to? __________________

Alright, in all seriousness... are the tickets to Mexico paid for? If not there's always the "I can't afford it" excuse. Or say you have another vacation planned.

Say you're going on another vacation that week and you already bought your tickets... And plan one now so it's not a total lie.

edit: the reception that I am looking for an excuse to get out of is here in Canada.. So we'd just have to find someone to drive us there
But the wedding is in Mexico and yes, if you decide to go you are expected to pay for the trip and everything yourself..

Tell her you caught a very persistent parasite or vernal disease at the last wedding reception you went to and are afraid it might happen again.
-------------------- Same thing happened to me when I played Neil Armstrong in Moonshot. They found me in an alley in Burbank trying to re-enter the earth's atmosphere in an old refrigerator box.
