The mystery of Bill Henry

#7391456 - 09/10/07 11:57 AM (19 years, 1 month ago)

Mathematically alive ... An original report that the ex-big leaguer Bill Henry is dead turned out to be false. The man who recently died was a man who passed himself off as ex-big leaguer Bill Henry, who pitched for years in the bigs and appeared for Cincinnati in the 1961 World Series. The fake Bill Henry died on Aug. 27 in Lakeland, Fla., two days after suffering a heart attack, his stepdaughter Debbie Lee said. Lee told the AP that her stepfather, who she thought was a former pitcher, enjoyed his time on the mound. Apparently even the fake Henry's wife thought he was the big-league pitcher.

The real Bill Henry lives in Texas and says he's in good health. According to the report, the real Bill Henry didn't seem to mind that someone else pretended to be him.

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

That's entirely fucked up. The dead guy's family must feel really betrayed :frown:

The gunpowder treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
