Thai Koh Samui & Anxiety
    #728455 -

I posted a few months back about having EXTREME anxiety off of these guys with very little trippiness. This one time may have put me of of fungi forever, it was THAT discomforting.

Recently, a friend who knew nothing of my experience revealed the same symptoms. He is very experienced and never had a bad trip, yet reported that he couldn't wait to come down as the trip was so uncomfortable. He said that "Everything felt WRONG!"

Both experiences were from a low to mid-level dosage.

The spores were from Joshua who said that he had no problems with them.

I know the whole strain issue has been beaten to death, yet...

Thoughts or similar experiences with this strain?

I had a similar experience on Thai as well, I thought it was just me. I felt uncomfortable as hell most of the time, but when I started coming down it suddenly got very trippy and happy and colorful ...

Hmm my last bad trip was from lipa yais that blew me away on 3.5 grams. Was going in and out of reality during the peak and had a the worst fear you could think of on a walk. Both me and my friend flipped out. He flipped out before i did and i think he triggered me flipping out becasue i was worried about him. He kept saying things like shit man just mushrooms. Your ok just mushrooms. I could barly get him to talk me, then i went out of it for a while and dont remember about an hour but we i started to be able to think again and able to walk. My friend came down too and was ok.

That trip made me stop using mushrooms for a while. Just gonna have a break for atleast a year. I dunno if i can blaim the strain tho. Only had one expierence on that type.

I took less than a half eighth which is why I am curious why I got such heavy anxiety ..

Follow-up thought:

The Thais were very spongey. Not sure if this is normal or if it means excessive water. If extensive water, could that make them more susceptable to contamination though none was showing?

Same thing here man. I only ate 3 1/2 grams one night and went to a rave and nearly freaked out b/c the trip was so weird and intense. I had to leave the rave early b/c I thought I would go insane. Once I got home though it was all good but I was starting to come down. Just like ya'll, the whole time at the rave I just wanted the trip to end b/c it was so hard. I had some good visuals though even though I almost lost my mind. At one point I couldnt even talk right it was so bad..lol What was weird though was the trip was kind of like some tabs i've had before. The trip would get so intense, then all of a sudden it would just slow down where I was able to think again and wouldnt be so paranoid, then it would kick back in. That was a first for me. One good thing though was the trip only lasted like 3 hours and I was very happy when it ended. I have tripped many times before and never had that much trouble with a trip ever. The setting I was in didnt really help out the trip either, that for sure. I will try them again one day but not anytime soon.

For me, I saw some pretty nice visuals but EVIL ... I couldn't move but it almost mentally "hurt" to close my eyes and put my head down ... when I did that I saw really intense and ugly visuals that for some reason made me think of insanity ... in a really bad way ...

I had my friend drive me around in his car while listening to Jimi Hendrix to see if I could calm down, but even that was really uncomfortable and scary ...

When he left, my trip started to come down and I sat in my bath while admiring the visuals ... I could finally enjoy them.

But Thai is not a strain I would care to do again ... it isn't worth the anxiety.

I've read in numerous places, that Koh Samui and Lipa Yai have intense waves that can knock you on your ass, compared to the steady, smooth buzz of Cambos or PE...

The only bad trips my wife has had were on KS, they give me a huge mindfuck but very little visuals, and like Kalix said above, very rollercoasterish.

Spongey = a little bit wet.

I have heard Thai strains are more energetic than average (whatever that means)...

The anxiety perhaps had to do with set, setting or spongey shrooms.

No fuckin' clue man.

my sister and her boyfriend had some koh samui and the first thing they told me about them after taking them was they felt very anxious. is this a coincedence? i tried some and could not relax...i don't if i had anxiety, but it wasn't my usual kind of trip.

I have tripped 3 times on Koh Samui and never had a bad experience. (2.5g 3g and 3.5g). The trip was filled with insane visuals that almost felt like acid. (Green based mostly) I felt the intense need to pace around and find something to do. (Thats what i would define 'energetic' as) I have had multiple friends also trip on Koh Samui and 2 of them have had bad trips exactly the same. They described it as a feeling that the world was crashing down on them. Their body load was very intense, and they were both suffering from muscle cramps. They felt bad enough that they were begging me to take them to the hospital but i declined because i knew there was no contams in these and i had dosed from the same batch along with 2 others who also had good trips. Both people who had bad trips have tripped over 100 times over the past 5 years, and have each had a few bad trips before. They also had a good time until about the 3 hour mark. We found out that when they smoked pot, the bad aspect of the trip was lessened greatly.

My post on eating 7 grams kinda relates to this... Im 2 lazy to rewrite my last post so here it is just copied so try to figure it out... "No, we still have not done them... me and my friend both work so it isnt like we can just pick any day to trip. We both took off work for Monday and tuesday so monday morning we are picking up some choice ganja and then making the trip up north(2 hour drive) to where we own a bunch of land and a cabin. It should be amazing.. The cabin is way down in the woods in a huge valley with a steam that runs through it.. We will be the only ones around for miles... Then me and a buddy will dose between 5 and 7 grams dry each. it will be a 50/50 mix of B+ and Thai Koh samui super strain. I am still REALLY tempted to dose the full 7.. But now i feel like i am being talked down from it. I dont know.. Maybe I will do 5 and then an hour later 2 grams... i dont know, 7 grams just seems like the thing to do:)"

I took some thai koh samui "super strain" from ryche hawk and the first time i was by myself and had a very uncomfortable experience. Like others, its a feeling undescribable. I didnt feel like i was visually hallucinating but had strong audial trips (rare for me) and mental hell and paranoia. I felt like i was schizo or something, and didnt feel like i could come down. It was ****ing freaky. ALTHOUGH. . . i went camping and took some from a new batch but same syrenge and it was my most intense, comfortable and laughable trip ever, it was great. Im trying some lipas in a couple week so hopefully 3rd times a charm.

i still find it hard to understand how a particular strain can produce a particular effect. you're still eating psilocybin, psilocin etc. do the tiny differences in the amounts of alkaloids between strains really make that much difference to a trip?

yes.

i get a weird anxiety depression type state with cambo's, but i understand what you mean when you say cambo's dont come in waves and are much smoother. the whole tripp it pretty steady, but unenjoyable.

its my theory that the substrate has a huge influence on the alkaloid content (not just 4HO). ive been working with brown rice for a while, and i feel that the brown rice brings the depressive quality to the trip, simply because its a sub-par substrate. perhaps the required amount of nitrogen must be present in the substrate to produce a desirable product?
