What's it like to die by being eaten by a lion?

I don't know if there have been any trip reports written by people who died by lion.

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

depends on how quickly shock kicks in. the terror in the mind would be unbearable methinks.

Would the lion take the care to kill you as fast as possible?

actually, most large predatory felines suffocate their prey. i was watching this cool documentary on em.

a lot of animals they find in the wild that were killed by big cats have zero puncture or scratch marks on em. rather, they find that the animal suffocated. cats take a hold of your throat with their mouth, and then push their incisor teeth down behind your wind pipe where a large arterial (not sure if arterial is the right term) vein or something is that is the main roller coaster for the blood to your brain. they bite down just hard enough to close that vein off. so you just pass out and then eventually die. saw it on national geographic a while ago.

That's what I'm talkin' about. It's good to see that they have consideration.

Doesn't sound THAT bad..
Humans aren't standard lion prey so would they still know how to do that?

not sure. another cool factoid from that documentary was that, the scientists couldn't figure out how large cats KNEW that there was this crucial vein behind a prey's windpipe. it's like it's genetically instinctual or something. pretty cool stuff.

and yes, they have found humans in this position of suffocation too. these cats know exactly what they are doing.

also, i am not sure WHY they do it. from the videos they showed, the animals they attacked passed out pretty quick, so maybe its just a faster way to kill the prey, so it doesn't kick around and fight so much...who knows.

as mentioned.. there's a video out there of a guy being mauled by a lion in it's pen.. i remember a bit where it looks like the lion is about to start eating the guy, but the people outside the cage keep distracting the lion...

i'm pretty sure he dies later from the wounds.. he gets seriously chewed up.

yos-

i'm guessing a screaming and flailing antelope or las Vegas magician would attract the attention of the lurking hyenas. A quick quiet kill would give the beast time to eat slowly or at least the time to drag it up a tree. from all the docs i've seen, it is minutes before the smell of blood attracts scores of other predators
