found some purple bruising mushies on the side of the road

I deliver pizza in Pensacola, Florida and found these growing on the side of the road. the first thing i noticed was the purple bruising on the tops of the caps. the caps were about 2-3 inches across. I noticed the same purple color on the the stem where the veil broke away. after keeping them over night, the color darkened to that which you see in the pictures. the spore prints were also light brown/purple and darkened over night. does anyone know what these might be? I'll post more pix soon.

also, the darkness around the edges of the caps is not shadows, that is the actual color that the caps are bruising.

agaricus, really??? i've come across hundreds of those out in the fields, and never seen even one bruise like this... i'm not all that expirienced though, i guess we learn something new every day...

The brown deposits on the cap are spoor stains not bruising...
The same goes for the veil remnants on the stem...
I bet if you broke a cap in half or a stem in half they would bruise Rust/Red.

Psilocybian mushrooms never bruise purple. Purple to chocolate to purple-brown is the color of the spores of the genus Psilocybe. Those mushrooms bruise blue when damaged. Just like this one where I cut the stem off at the base. This is a cube grown from Educador (P. subcubensis).



And here are several caps of P. cubensis with purple spore deposits on the tops and edges of the caps. In this way you can tell the difference between blue bruising and purple-spore deposits for the genera Psilocybe.







And sometimes cubes can be sporeless such as these two form Na Muang, Thailand. But then these are like a few in ten thousand mushrooms.
