a scale... go to the nearest high time shop in your area and look for a small "calibron" scale... very accurate and not very expensive around 20$(canadian)...

Having a good scale in my opinion, is just as important as any other tool. You'll use it to calculate your yeild (which is always fun to do) and you will sharpen your measuring skills!!! LOL

A good company that makes scales is one called Ohaus. Ohaus makes scales for both persoanl and industrial use. I bought a brand new digital scale (their HP-320 model) and retail I think it goes for $160. I bought it on eBay for $76 (and that included S&H)

It all depends on what you want to spend. The Ohaus I got weighs up to 300 grams but it measures in g, oz, dwt, ozt. Lots of digital scales only read grams or ounces, mine does both which is a nice feature.

If you don't want to go the digital route, you can get a beam scale. It's the kind they use in high schools. It has a pan on one end and a counter weight on the other. The work great too but they're harder to conceal because of their size.

Go to ebay and do a search for "digital scales" or "beam scale". You'll get an idea of what they're like.

Don't bother with a post office, hand held measuring scale, they're garbage and they're not accurate.

Hope this helps

Digital is the only way to go, they are fast and accurate. I use the same scale that I use for reloading. Cost effective :D

Thanks, digital seems kind of expensive for me right now...I might have found an old beam scale on ebay that's starting out at $1, but i bet it'll go up to like 50 or something. do u think one of those ones where u put a weight on one side and the mushrooms on the other might work? Ebay has those for like ten bucks. Has anyone tried one of those portable beam scales that cost ~$15? The ads say they're pretty acurate. Thanks again

go to office max and get a finger scale for 1.09. cheap, small, and idiot proof. supposedly they've been said as inaccurate, but american nickels are 5 grams and american pennies 3 grams. actually i think this whole expensive scale thing on the net is a conspiracy to sell them. there isn't much markup on a 1.09 scale. anyway, a finger scale is good for purposes such as ours. we don't need EXACT grains, it's just not logical
