Kind of a Poll
    #7125687 -

What does this statement mean to you.

You cannot quanitfy the unquantifiable.

I yearn for thoughts and wish for both simple explanations and complex deductions. I wish to hear it all.

Thank's ya'lls.

I have Many Many names!

Well ill be the first to point out the obvious, you cant quantify quality.

And what about infinity and nothingness? I think alot of confusion arises out of inadvertantly simplifying these concepts into quantities.

Quantification is an intellectual pursuit informed by some logical process of reason, or alternately, a reasonable process of logic. What we are able to perceive is only a fraction of what is; the imperceivable can be quantified as unquantifiable, though I doubt any seasoned quantifier would consider the unquantifiable a category of quantification worth their time.

But even within the scope of what we are able to perceive, many "things" are considered unquantifiable because a thing could be a multi-faceted phenomenon such as an emotional state or The Universe. Quantification is actually a very dumb process, with very limited use, simply because it attempts to reduce everything to a form that can be compared to all other forms, or at least the quantification of those other forms, but this simply is not consistent with the nature of the world and the stuff we actually experience in it.

Ultimately, any quantificative process will fail, since quantification also assumes, or at least hopes, that everything will remain static. For this, and several other unquantifiable reasons I propose that the process of quantification be done away with entirely and thenceforth be replaced with a thought that occurred to me immediately upon rising from bed at about 4:00 pm today:
If nothing is the same as anything else, how is everything not the same as everything else?

Since the discovery of fractals, the rules of quantification and logic sort of bit the dust. Check this out:

Fractal Nature of British Coast

Yes, the british coast is essentially infinitely long. Makes most of our measurements that our based on our existance in an infinite spacial realm kind of meaningless in a realistic sense. Pretty much everything is unquantifiable
