I personally don't like salt as much as the next guy. I can eat fries without salt, I eat most stuff without salt usually. I still like it, but whatever. Spice > Salt.

salt taste good because you need it to live!
...just like those delicious sugars & fats.

the same principle would apply in reverse to drugs & poisons tasting bad.

our taste is highly evolved. ...if you get my drift.

msg and all that is just science trying to fool our bodies.

many things we need to survive and help us taste good...

fats, sugars, etc...

thats why it is almost EVIL how what tastes good is not necessarily the healthiest, but if you train your palette eventually you eat a bunch of great tasting super healthy food!

well i think the problem lies not in the fact that bacon and such taste good...
but rather that we are no longer forced to burn 1000 calories hunting and killing a boar to get that bacon.

shit, these days you don't even need to get your fat ass out of the car to buy yourself a whopper.

some crazy shit just happened...

a friend of mine just walked in, and poured salt in her hand and licked it, i asked her why, she replied "salt just tastes good"

so i guess salt is good on its own to some peeps

MSG is an excitotoxin and works by overstimulating glutamate receptors, which damages and destroys nerve cells. It's literally a flavor explosion.

I pretty much don't add salt to anything.

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

all flavours are a combination of the 5 basic flavour receptors found in our toungue and mouth. They are sweet, salty, acidic, bitter and Umami (msg)

So salt and MSG are actually "pure" flavours and so that s probably why the flavour is so intense.
