I agree - he's been on fire, he really can't be expected to carry the Yankees on his back every night of the week, that's just silly.  Plus, give some credit to Papelbon - he's one of the best closers in the game right now, and he took care of him.

Yeah for sure. He's not the first person who has said this to me tonight either. I got the same shit from somebody else. To which I responded the same as well as adding in the fact that he was batting against Papelbon in the 9th. Come on now... he's not superman. He's damn good but he's not going to come through every single time. Theres no I in team! :lol: A-Rod is having a breakout early season. He's doing very well. Give the man a break.

I'm not asking A-Rod to come through EVERY time.
All i'm asking is for him to come through in a big spot. which i have yet to see him do in his Yankee's tenure.

By big spot, i do not mean bottom of the ninth in april against the Indians or Orioles (ie last weeks walk off HRs)

Last night in my mind constituted a 'big spot'. Down 8-7 or w/e it was in the top of the ninth. two outs, man on..and papelboner on the hill. And the Yanks in danger of being swept at Fenway for the first time in 17 yrs. And Papelbon made him look foolish.

Soak up the good moments now...they are few and far between when it matters. Like I said I hope that it all changes this year and A-Rod helps the Yanks win it all....but from what I have seen as a Yankee fan...history is not on his side

Not sure if you are aware...but even though Mo is the best closer of all time, Papelbon is without a doubt the best closer in the majors right now when fully healthy..

one could make that argument, and for the most part i do agree with you.

however, alex rodriguez is easily the best player in the game, so I would expect he would put up a fight in a big at bat, and not foolishly swing at the high fastball to end the game.

its all over now, but should make this weekend in the bronx more intense....yanks have lots of revenge on their minds.

by no means did they play bad this past series, they just ran into 3 of the top 10 pitchers in the AL right now. The offense was there, but they couldnt hold down the Sox

I like A-Rod. He's a lady magnet, but he loses focus easily. Fame and fortune will get the best of him (125+ million contract?). Just wait and see. Plus his pitching staff sucks. Yeah, they're horrible. I hope you Yank fans enjoy him this year, cause he won't be back.

I love how having the best April in baseball history isn't good enough lol. I guess that he should be batting 1.000. Then I guess it'd be "He has 2 errors on the year. It's all his fault."

I'm just completely in awe of him.

It's honestly a joy watching his at-bats now...even if he strikes out, or grounds into a double play...he's so locked in, I feel lucky to be watching a player of his caliber playing to the best of his ability.  That was the problem the last couple of years...watching him struggle and be uncomfortable was just a psychologically painful experience. :crazy:
