with that scenario i'd rather have the 1st gen, at least they were quality then... apples portable products have become shit

I see we're dealing with one of those "the stuff from back in the day was better" types of people. There's a reason I said first or second gen, not first or newest. You honestly think the first gen was better than the second? Can you even tell me the differences without Google?

The SNES is the best. The only reason I really like the NES is so many great series started on it, the SNES sequels are all better.

A really cool kind of obscure NES game is Crystalis
It plays a lot like Zelda but I liked it a lot more than any NES Zelda.
River City Ransom is great too
And of course Mega Man! #3 was my favorite. :rockman:

id hardly call crystalis obscure, that was a pretty big game when i was a kid. There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of great NES titles. Master blaster, bubble bobble, mega man series, dragon warrior, ultima, life force, gyruss, etc. Christ i could go on for days naming awesome nintendo games that still hold replay value to this day.

However comparing NES to SNES to N64 to Gen. is a waste of time. Every system has their pros and cons, but since they're separated by CPU power you really can't compare them. That's like comparing a 286 machine to a p4, sure there are similarities, but they are way too different to make a solid comparison. Now if you wanted to compare NES to the sega master system, that's a different story.

I just hardly ever hear Crystalis get a mention, it's always Zelda this Zelda that.

Master Blaster was another great one, I remember being entranced by the music it plays during the opening story sequence. :hypnotoad:

Second gen didn't have color capacity either. And the first gen had the actual spinning wheel, where as the second gen was touch. I don't see how either of those improvements could be less desired.

And you think color capacity is bad?

During my initial experimentation with psychedelics, the game Uniracers was a fucking awesome distraction… SNES of course also had the original F-Zero, i would get so buzzed on coffee and home grown marijuana, listen to bjork, and waste hours attempting to beat my friends in time trials. Eventually they caught on to the idea of caffeine's supreme benefit and the playing fields were leveled.
I have little doubt video games, not unlike psychedelics, have and will continue to shape the adaptive process of human evolution, for good or ill… perhaps we should refocus the war on terror to encompass dispersal of video game systems to the third world.

that's because zelda helped set the path for games like crystalis.  Zelda was released one year or so after the original launch of the NES.  The reason it gets so much talk is because it was an innovator (and a damn good one at that).  I remember crystalis and faxanadu fondly, they both ate up ungodly hours of my childhood and still do when i whip out the emulator.

Christ, im surprised no one's even mentioned chrono trigger for the SNES.  IMO that's the only RPG to have rivaled FF on that system, it's too bad the series died out, it was a lot of fun to play.
