Any chance of increasing the file upload limit to 15meg?

For us electronica freaks it's had to find tracks under 10meg to post. An increase to 15 meg would give us the freedom to post what we enjoy like everyone else.

I've wanted to post a bunch of songs that are 10MB+, especially Explosions in the Sky and LCD Soundsystem tracks.

why not just use a program to change the bitrate of the files? In all honesty, it's hard to tell the difference from 256 to 64 unless you have super good hearing or even better headphones/speakers

There is no way you can't tell the difference between a 256kbps mp3 and a 64 kbps mp3.

I shall upload some samples when I get home that will prove that you are a silly man!

I've got a few programs that convert bitrates, and I do it when making data discs or uploading large files.

I can't tell a difference unless other programs are running that cause skips or pops or clicks in the file

Ok, here's the DJ Food track "The Crow..." encoded at a range of bitrates. I'm confident you can tell them apart. I've encoded them using LAME 3.97, and I've used --cbr just to simplify things a little.

Here are the files:

*8 kbps*
*16 kbps*
*32 kbps*
*64 kbps*
*128 kbps*
*256 kbps*

It's possible you might not be able to tell the difference between 128kbps and 256 kbps if you don't have a great sound system/ears, but the rest should be pretty clear cut.

I find 192kbps LAME vbr pretty transparent on a consumer quality sound system.

plus changing the bitrate (ie, re-encoding) an already encoded, lossy file is going to make it quickly degrade to absolute shit. once something is encoded from flac or wav or whatever non-lossy format to a lossy format (mp3, m4a, ogg, etc), you shouldn't re-encode it, and you should definitely not try to convert it back to a non-lossy format
