Man gets 20 years for injecting pregnant woman with meth

ST. LOUIS -- An eastern Missouri man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for several methamphetamine-related convictions, including the first-ever federal conviction for providing the drug to a pregnant woman, authorities said Thursday.

John Schropp Jr., 24, of Sullivan, was convicted in October of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute meth, possession of pseudoephedrine for the manufacture of meth, and providing meth to a pregnant woman.

U.S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway said Schropp "jeopardized the life of an innocent unborn child by frequently injecting methamphetamine into a woman who was visibly pregnant."

Schropp was among 10 people charged with a meth-manufacturing operation out of St. Clair, Mo. The other nine defendants earlier pleaded guilty and were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 15 months to 6 1/2 years. But Schropp was the only one charged with injecting a pregnant woman with the drug.

Eh? Did he FORCE the women to take meth? If he did, then maybe he might deserve some prison time. If the women willingly wanted to be injected with meth - show some fucking self responsibility.

agreed, but still keep ya butt hole tight ...

i think equally importantly, why do people think that because this woman may or may not have wanted to do meth that the guy who provided it to her wasn t really doing anything wrong, even if they both were equally sprung nothing gives you the right to make that decision for your unborn child.. that s selfish...

Man, This is sick, the woman probably allowed herself to be injected, she should have the baby then be made to give it up for adoption, then join her deth cook friend in prison. There is no way that she could be injected 10 times without her consent unless she was being held hostage.

In any case they should be fixed like animals. Oh yeah, from what I hear, child molesters and rapists get raped in prison.

I can see how some could find that ironic, however its all about a matter of suffering for me. Now whether or not meth exposed fetuses suffer through life because of it is another story alltogether.

partial birth abortion is where the baby is halfway out of his/her mother and they cut his/her spinal cord, no painkillers or anything for the child. The child also experience more pain than an adult would, because since they are so small they have a higher ammount of nerves per square inch of skin.

Some? Perhaps we need to review what irony means. The definition of irony that I was using (from webster): "incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result". The incongruity results from no punishment upon death of a fetus versus punishment for no death of a fetus.

It is nice that it is all about suffering for you, but sufferning and irony have little to do with one another.

They are related here. I see no/very limited suffering for an aborted fetus, but the potential for a lifetime of suffering for a methamphetamine dosed fetus... Therefore I don't see the irony.

That is because the "suffering" that you keep bringing up has zero, nadda, nothing, zip, to do with the irony. Don't look so hard for an abortion debate. If you can't see the irony because you can't get passed the abortion aspect, then think of it in terms of little kids playing in a candy store or something else that is less of an emotional subject for you. Trust me, the irony is there.

In abstract terms:

Man destroys A and gets off fine.
Man damages A and goes to prison.

The irony being that the man gets in less trouble for destroying something than harming something.
