Surreal TV Pirate broadcast.

This is a video of a Television pirate in a max headroom mask who hijacked the signal during a Dr. Who broadcast in chicago and interrupted it with his truly surreal and nonsensical ramblings.

How old is this? I thought it was something recent? And what would one have to do to succeed in doing this. It would have to be over radio waves right? Specifically in Chicago area?

no i think this was a bbc channel. also it was done on a phone line i think.

This was done on WTTW Chicago Channel 11, on Sunday November 22nd, 1987, at around 11:15pm. I don't know how he hijacked the frequency, but I'd imagine he managed to replace the standard feed with his own and broadcast it on the station's own transmitter.

This happened only a few months after I was born, and nearly 3,000 miles away from where I live... so I know nothing about it other than what I've seen reported about it.

Amusingly enough, this guy manages to be both more entertaining and less annoying than the "real" Max Headroom.

The actual Max annoys the hell out of me.
