I wonder if it has anything to do with death.... at many funeral homes the bottom half of the trees are painted stark white just like in this picture.

Nice, blissedout. Is Elijah your first? He reminds me of both my brother as a baby and my god-mother's youngest son.


Kronnade, the artist is Jacek Yerka. These are some of his better ones, I think others lack meaning or fail to deliver as much of a punch. I'd like the style to be taken to even further depths, because the truth that these point to, and I've experienced on trips and in dreams, as I'm sure we all have, is even more complex, mystifying, beautiful, and somewhat giving off a feeling of strange familiarity.

If anyone knows of any other artists in this vein please share. I personally don't like the typical psychedelic art, and think that it's totally off on the pretentious side.

This work is very reminiscent of René Magritte, to me. Reality may be thrown to the wind, but attention to visual detail and photorealistic rendering of objects remains.

Magritte tended to keep objects intact and grounded in logic, but the overall reality was changed by putting objects where they do not belong, making them larger than normal, and other such simple yet effective alterations.

One of his famous paintings is of a normal, well-rendered cityscape with a sky full of properly dressed men in coats raining from the sky, all in a standing position.



I love magritte because he managed to bend reality to a very significant degree despite keeping his feet firmly grounded in it. He took no drugs, he was mentally healthy save for being haunted by a childhood drama (I.E. he was troubled, but had no psychoses), and if you spoke to him he'd strike you as a normal European man of his era.

One of his most famous works was this picture... that does a great job of demonstrating the way he challenged reality:


The writing at the bottom says plainly and literally "this is not a pipe"

He was that kind of artist. His changes to reality were very simple, sometimes very basic silliness, but he paid so much attention to detail and he had so much artistic talent that he could take that simplicity to great levels.
