Anyone heard of these guys? I just discovered them yesterday, and i am eating it up like candy. their official site is Wolfmother and they have about 8 songs on their for your listening pleasure.

One of my personal favorites is "Tales From The Forest of Gnomes"

i dont think they sound like Led Zeppelin. I do think they sound old school for sure, but they have a Floyd/Sabbath/Other hybrid sound to me.

I thought they sounded a bit Led, (sloppy guitar, and what I term as 'drunk'-think Bonham drumming).

There kinda good, besides the fact that they sound exactly like The White Stripes, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and some other bands.:shrug:

I can't believe people rag on Wolfmother. Out of all the shit bands coming out anymore, Wolfmother is definitly a nice refresher. Solid guitar rythems and solos, solid drumming, awesome lyrics that aren't about crying, getting dumped, or losing something.

Wolfmother is the next big rock band. I said it two years ago when I stumbled upon their EP, and now they tour the US and have a full length.

Nah I agree with you, I'm just sick of Wolfmother. Yes I was very refreshed when I first heard them. I just don't ever want to hear Woman or the Joker and the Thief again. The Mind's Eye, there's a good tune.

And I resent the notion that they sound like Pink Floyd or Black Sabbath or The White Stripes. The Led Zeppelin similarity is undeniable though.

It is annoying, in a way, that EVERYONE listens to them now and all.  But I guess it's to be expected.  I don't listen to the radio, so the only time I hear the songs is when I chose to listen to them.

My fav is the White Unicorn.

And I like a mix between Sabbath and Zeppelin. :bongload:

I share the same view as others on this topic.

Wolfmother is probably one of the best bands to come about recently. They deserve credit for that. But I don't think they're the next big band. People said the exact same about The Darkness.

But it's awesome to have Wolfmother around, because it's "new-classic-rock" (as much as an oxymoron that is). So being a fan of classic rock, I like em. As a matter of fact I'm gonna put in their CD!

Saw them live once too, damn good show.

They're insanely good live, and get really old fast recorded.

Not a fan.. but they recently toured with a band that I just got into the other day and have been listening to solidly- Silversun Pickups. I like it!

Yes! The Silversun Pickups have a real interesting sound. I saw them play the Bowery Ballroom a couple months back and it was fantastic - they were all real nice dudes. THe show had sold out a smaller venue, and had to be moved to the Bowery, where it then sold out again (bowery was double the size of the previous venue) and the guys were like ecstatic about that fact, endlessly thanking the audience and saying how cool it was to be playing the bowery.

That song Melatonin is the jam.

i dig em, i think they're one of the better bands to come out lately. i dont see why people get annoyed or pissed off when a band gets big and has a little success. the first time someone will hear a band on the radio they say oh now theyre all commercialized and i cant listen to them. fuck that. good music is good music. period.

i like dimension and colossal a lot. and white unicorn and joker and the thief. minds eye is good too. shit, the whole CD kicks ass really. cant wait to see these guys live i hear the keyboardist is nucking futz.
