Anything from Swollen Members, Andre Nickatina, Hieroglyphics, and Gangstarr. Beastie Boys are alright and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien Deltron 3030 was a really good cd.
Look up AKMC's they're from Anchorage AK and got some really good songs.
Josh Boots - Cold Weather Survival guide and Independant Hustle.
Tech N9ne is alright and there's this guy called Atmosphere that has some alright songs.

Currently I'm charmed by Bongo Flava - hiphop & rap from the east coast of Africa. Particularly "X-Plastaz", a band which raps in Swahili, incorporating traditional Maasai music and chanting into the rap and hiphop beats.

The lyrics of Bongo Flava bands mostly are about societal issues: the extremes of AIDS and poverty, the government, unemployment and the like. It's interesting to see Africans take rap & hiphop and turning it into something more positive again, rather than the violent/blingbling shallowness of much of the Afro-American rap&hiphop scene.

This definitely will be a culture shock to your ears, considering the "East Coast" is of Africa and the "hood" the Serengeti desert.
Really, takes some getting used to but interesting stuff :thumbup:
