no clue......go outside in a few hours and look

a perseid meteor is supposed to be one that enters the atmosphere and burns up. so they are pretty neat to see.

A Perseid meteor is a meteor that originates from the constellation Perseus. Just as a Leonid meteor is one that originates from the constellation Leo. The meteors don't actually come from the constellation, they just appear to and that's where the meteor showers get their names. They are actually just particles left from the pass of a comet and the earth slips through that particle cloud around the same time each year.

Anything that enters the atmosphere and burns up is perceived as a meteor. One that makes it through and strikes is a meteorite.

I was way into astronomy stuff when I was younger. I reckon I would have done much better in school and be on my way to becoming a cosmologist or some damn thing, but I got tangled up with that demon weed. Oh Mary Jane..... such a cruel mistress.

I guess I could.

But as you get older you loose that spark if you don't stay with it. It all still fascinates me and I love thinking about it on my own time. But I don't think I could make a living out of it. I've got a nice telescope that I take out from time to time, just scan the sky and wonder.

i know what you mean.

when i was younger reptiles and amphibians fascinated me like nothing else. i practically had a zoo in my basement of all sorts of different exotic specie. i aspired to be a herpetologist.

as i got older, hit puberty, and got into drugs and girls, this fascination didn't really fade, but interest was lost. not sure i could really blame the weed, per se, but it was a contributing factor to my overall apathy.

i still think it would be neat to study herpetiles for a living, but making a living at it would be hard.

so yea, i see where your coming from

Unbefuckinglievable. Fucking meteor showers coming right at my fucking head. I mean it was like i was waiting for the "BOOOM!", i thought it would have landed in the street right in front of his house.

Holy shit, it made me eat half a hit of acid, and now it seems all the more bugged out reading this shit. Cuz i didnt know what the fuck i just saw. Shit.

I saw one too while hanging out with some geese.

I had read this thread so it made the moment cool.

I remember a trip I took with my teacher and a friend to Yosemite. It was tight because the whole sky was visible - no moon and no lights. We layed down on this rock enbankment, which was perfectly angled at about 7-12 degrees so that we could look up to the sky with ease. We saw meteors coming down at the rate one one every 2 minutes at the least, streaking across the sky with huge tails of fiery debris.

I'm going to bring a lil romance to this thread.

At this time two years ago, I was on a cruise hittin up different spots in the Gulf of Mexico.

Well I met this little hottie the first night and spend the rest of the week connected at the hip. We slept together every night.

Well one night when we were both "drigh" we went to the top front deck at like 2-3 in the mornin. Not a soul in sight, all we had was the sea air in our face and the stars above. She was layin on top of me in a lounge chair on the deck when we noticed meteors shootin everywhere. It was the Perseid meteor shower.

So the rest of the night we watched the shower and had sex on the deck. One of the greatest memories I will ever have.

@ Hobbitcg and LloydChristmas, fucking sweeeeeet

One night I was taking a nice walk, thought it was such a beautiful night out. Was rockin some beats (I think Grateful Dead or something equally nostalgic + chill) and I sat down to take a puff from my favorite bowl. I took a puff, tasted the sweet, sweet smoke and gently exhaled..... ahhhhh. Looked up into the sky and it looked as if God had peirced the sky, leaving behind an enormous fiery gash in the sky. I swear, the smoke was there forever.

****SHHWWWWRRROOOOSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH****

It was fucking wild. The biggest meteor I've seen in my life, by far. I looked right up into the sky exactly where it passed through our atmosphere and disintegrated. Holy shit was that ever perfect timing. I kicked back longer and caught a full on meteor shower. Fuck yeah.

I've caught a few others accidentally as well. Always love getting lost in space. :peace:
