why are they not filing charges, are cops that much better than real people? if I had a fatal car wreck I'd be up on vehicular man slaughter charges

While I agree that is messed up, but it is still a different situation if you or I did that. Wrong, double standard, hypocrisy, and all that maybe.
Even so, I am not always out for blood when a LE messes up or even when there just plainly wrong.
What is it about this case, or does it not matter as long it's a LE.

I'm not out for blood in a situation like that either, but I do say that double standards should be abolished, cops seem to have an immunity against procecution the same sort of immunity that polititians have, sure cops are 'punished' but what the PD says is punishment is my life long dream, to be suspended from work for several months with pay until an investigation is done

I lost a friend about 20 years ago in a similar accident, he was rear ended by the cop and his car pushed over the abutment of a bridge, the cop was running 80+ and blew one light before striking him. his family sued the department and subpoenaed the 911 calls as well as the dispatch recordings, the departments official statement is that is was a tragic accident but unavoidable because the officer was responding to a call, the recordings showed a different story
the family lost the lawsuit, the officer was suspended with pay and returned to work after the investigation was completed.

Ahh ok sure I see where your coming from. There are those who are out for blood for anything. I did not know where you were coming from. I am not so hard on LE outside of corruption or abuse of powers.
I totally agree with politicians. Like the one in the news of late that the Feds raided and now his cronies are crying foul...fuckers all of them.
We have to get rid or changes the wording in the 'Speech & debate' clause....that is some piece of work.
I think all politicians should be put on trial when there term has ended and be held accountable for any wrong doing.

Well that is truly fucked up, and that changes everything, I now understand where you are coming from.

see, thats the issue, they are seldom punished for crimes they can commit, most cops are decent honest people overall and deserve a decent life and our praise for a job well done, but the handful that isnt may suffer being fired just to move on to another department, only a small few are ever jailed for crimes.
Politicians should serve two terms, one in office and one in prison
I think thats what you meant to say
link to the speech and debate clause please

ok... I've read it long ago, it's one of my bitches as well, several years ago several senators and congresspersons bounced checks, some to the tune of $50k we all know that that amount is a felony and that if any of us had done the same thng, we'd be charged as such... felonies are aparently overloocked now. of course tax money took care of the checks.

Your right, I am a little bias and maybe shouldn't be. But dont get me wrong, it's not all a free pass not by any means.
I said that about the Politicians, well was a reference to the Spartans and how they thought about those who were in power. Obscured comment yes.

I've always felt that since the politicians make the laws, cops are paid to enforce the laws, they obviously know what the laws are so in breaking them they should be recieving a much stiffer peanalty.
I mentioned that to a cop once, he responded that since a cops job is so dangerous that they shouldnt be held to that 'higher standard', a little research showed that it's more dangerous to work a convienience store or drive a taxi, and that police work is actualy one of the safest jobs out there

we should all have personal small cameras so to document the whole situation.
A friend asked a cop about that. The cop was very pissed off to know that a person is willing to stand against them......

I usualy keep my camera and a tape recorder in the truck, I document the encounter cops do it, usualy I tell them I'm recording the converstation and they always pull the "not without my permission, it's illegal" shit, I ask if they have a microphone and camera in their car, they usualy do, and I inform them they dont have my permission to record me... they threaten to arrest me and all sorts of shit and I'm game for the lawsuit that follows.
never once have I been more than a little hassled for it, and seldom get a ticket after they learn you know the system as well as they do.
