im not so good when it comes to finite mathematics... im more of a trig person... heres some questions from the final... please help! ill give a good rating...
1.) Suppose that 60% of the voters intend to vote for a conservative candidate. What is the probability that a survey polling 8 people reveals at most 3 intend to vote for a conservative candidate?
2.) If 3 people are selected from a group of 7 men and 3 women, what is the probability that exactly one woman is selected?
3.) An airline with two types of airplanes, P1 and P2, has contracted with a tour group to provide transportation for a minimum of 2000 first class, 1500 tourist class, and 2400 economy class passesngers. For a certain trip, airplane P1 costs 12 thousand to operate and can accommodate 40 first class, 40 tourist, and 120 economy, whereas airplane P2 costs 10 thousand to operate and can accomodate 80 first class, 30 tourist, and 40 economy. How many of each type of airplane should be used in order to minimize the operating cost?
id really like to get the answer to 3 cuz its 10% of the test... i think you can use matrices for the last one but im not sure... thanks yall!

I'm in finite right now, but for the life of me can't remember how to do these problems.
I'm kind of drunk, but if I remember right
1) factor tree 2) punnet square, probability x probability 3) minimization problem, I actually had this problem on my exam. plug the numbers in a matrix and use one of the tests, remember you can't use a fraction of an airplane.
sorry I'm not more help, but hopefully that will get the wheels turning.

I'm a little rusty, and if I had my book I'd check it, but If I remember correctly..
solve for y, then subtract from your original number.
whats your exam like? do you get partial credit? or is it scantron?

Im doing first year statistics, so if u are beyond that then im of no help, number 2) is a binomial question right? n = 10 p =.3 and so proberbility of exactly one female from the tables is = .1211
for number 1)once again binomial? n = 8 p = .6, so proberbility they wont vote is .4 , 4 or more = .1941 from the tables, so 1 - .1941 = .8059 (im not sure if thats the right logic 3 or less = 1 - 4 or more) so dont trust me on that one
once again not sure if im of help, but thats what i would of done.
