anyone know how to do this?? do i still use the polyfil on the tops? and open up the top when putting grain in there?? how much do i put in?>

I've never done it, but I've read a lot of Stamet's stuff and will be doing it soon myself. You definately want to do it in a glove box or sterile environment of some sort. Regular mouth jars with synthetic filter discs over the mouths (instead of the metal lids) are ideal. I don't like using polyfil but I suppose it could still work as long as its sterile. I would definately order some synthetic filter discs if you're planning on doing more g2g. Anyways, you just pour in the colonized grain from a jar into the uncolonized jar of grain. Any amount will work but the less you put in the slower it will colonize. If I recall correctly, I think a 20% ratio of colonized grain to uncolonized grain is recommended.

i've done it... in open air. Just move real fast.

take the jar your gonna use. Shake it up so it's easy to pour.

loosen all the band lids, and real quick just pour.  according to stamets 1 qt. jar has enough to inoculate 10 qt. jars.

here are a few G2G 4 days after!! :eek:

Looks good! I'm impressed you did it in open air, I am to afraid

of contams to try something like that. I always use glove box

when i am opening anything that is sterile.

my house is relatively clean... oust the air, and lysol the counters...

i have a glovebox, but that many jars is a PITA!

i have even opened up massive contaminated jars in my house, and discarded them. If your relatively clean, there should be no worries.

My house is nice beause there are no carpets its all hardwood, however

its really really old with lots of drafts and cracks etc I've never

tried it but i dont think i want to.
