Finally saw King Kong the other night.

It broke my widdle heart.

It was pretty good, really poignant and really fucking long.

Yeah, it was terribly long but I was hard-pressed to find anything unnecessary that could have been cut. I loved all the characters so I didn't mind any of the asides. I thought all the actors did fantastic jobs too.

Yeah, though it took a bit to wrap my head around a semi-"serious" jack black. Also, Andy Serkis was great as the weirdo cook.

Yes! i was really glad to see Serkis in the flesh and not just as King Kong. We only had the DVD rented for a night but I'll buy it eventually - I want to watch the making of featurettes and see Serkis acting as Kong. That guy's one weird method actor.

Also, King Kong vs. four Tyrannosaurus Rexes was one of the best fights EVAR. When he was ripping open the last one's skull you got the impression he'd had a LOT of practice with that.

My wife thought it was the worst film ever.

She hated it so much she wouldn't even let me watch it.

May I come to your place and watch with you?

I'll bring my blanky for cuddling purposes.

your wife has very good taste in films

king kong was perhaps the worst film I've ever seen, certainly the worst of 2005

I haven't seen it, yet. I have The Chronicles of Narnia, but I haven't had the chance to watch it, yet, either. Tonight's the night!

I don't know about King Kong, it was good, but very overdone. P. Jackson was trying to make the movie as epic as the Lord of the Ring movies, and King Kong just isn't like that. Also, there was too much character establishment in the beginning- they were rather simple characters and didn't need that shit.

I liked how the writers decided that since the island already has a giant gorilla, why not throw in some dinosaurs and giant bugs? It all makes the same amount of sense. The T. Rex fight scene was pretty great.

I just wish Kong got a chance to kill Jack Black's character. What was up with his last line in the movie?
