Dried Cake Packages

So, The Racoon was wondering why some commercial wizard hasn't invented some kind of pressed or freeze dryed or dehydrated sterile substrate cake packed in shrink wrap that could be ordered, had & unwrapped, would first fit in pint jars for rehydrating with xx amount of sterile water added, once rehydrated, inoculated w/spore syringe & off it goes.
If that cake (after fully colonized) was later placed in an upside down wide mouth quart, 1/2 gallon or gallon glass jar, with a little spacer (3/4 inch of 1.5 -- 2 inch pvc pipe -- for instance) between it & the lid. The lid had 4 ....1/8th or 3/16th holes drilled in for gas exchange. The fruiting jar -- if set on some mesh or wire surface that didn't block the gas exchange holes in the lid & the jar set somewhere warm, it woud serve as comfortable housing & give the pins room to grow & flourish. The jar would hold its own on humidity.
It would seem a smart beginner could start with a syringe or 5, a cake or 36 & a jar or 36 & away he (or she) goes? No PC would be needed, since the inoc & grow chamber jar(s) could have some water added, then nuked until the water boils out to sterilize it (them). Or, just washed, boiled & cleaned out with Lysol in a glove box -- or on warm oven rack.
Anyway, just a thought. It seems there would be a gross demand for such a thing. No muss -- no fuss -- no big grow chambers -- bubblers -- a good price for the cakes -- just order a few syringes -- the cakes -- do it & watch it happen in a warm place.

Those look pretty nice, but the bags would be so much cheaper to ship.

Oh yah. Speaking of bags. The Racoon says these tyvk bags;

are great for PC'ing large amounts of substrates @ once. Better than pillow cases -- anyway.
